    I had to check the scoreboard to see if this was a nationally televised game… or the Sixers commentary being Sixers commentary.

    I still remember the Embiid/Giddey collision where the commentary straight up said he couldn’t care less about Giddey. Beyond fucked up.

    Voice is Tom McGinnis, radio voice of the Sixers since the Iverson years (maybe before). He’s an overall great announcer but definitely missed on this one (20ft, in the face, violent act).

    This is our radio announcer. He is great, but trying to understand the true gravity of events just from listening can be a little tough sometimes lol

    With how much the announcer overreacted, I’m surprised he said he threw it from 20 ft away. It was about 10 ft so he should have said it was from point blank range.

    So to provide some insight, this wasn’t our TV commentators. This was the long time radio commentator, Tom McGinnis. He definitely goes overboard to really sell the situation to listeners since they can’t actually see what’s going on.

    I’m not saying this call made sense, but it makes more sense to go overboard and drum up excitement when you’re trying to portray the situation to a group that isn’t watching it.
