Curious what you all think. Did The Mavs do enough to fix the defensive issues to actually contend in The West?
They should make the playoffs, but I don't have expectations of them.
Trade Kyrie, that dynamic never gonna work with Luka
Luka needs to get better at playing off ball and they need to run him and kyrie as a 1A & 1B type punch instead of kyrie being in the corner
They’re gonna be elite offensively with Luka and kyrie of course but defense is gonna be a question mark for sure

Luka is to inefficient. He needs to reach 110 rTS% at minimum to have a chance. And they need more transition points.

If the Mavs don't have a top ranked defense, they're going nowhere
Having seen Luka at World Champion the last weeks makes me anxious about the next Mavs saison. His biggest flaw is still his biggest weakness: he can`t stop talking to the refs. He behaves like a toddler on the floor. He still is not a leader. With all his talent, that`s not the way to win..
Well they have Kyrie, so you can accept they aren't going to win.
Mavericks are cooked. for some godforsaken reason, they put their faith in flat earth kyrie. Whose antics, behaviors, lack of maturity, inconsistency have been on display for years. Only a matter time before Luka Dončić leaves.
If Luka Doncic does not really produce results in the 2023-2024 season, there is a possibility that he will be poorly evaluated by the front.

Im excited to see Grant Williams in a more prominent role and i hope Luka can take the next step as a leader. But i see this team as a play in team with how strong the west is now.
I think top 6 is too generous. Unless 2016 Kyrie Irving suddenly shows up again. The west is too stacked for Luka to be good enough alone. Luka is like the new Damian Lillard. Really good offense, but it takes an entire team to win in the NBA
Luka MUST get off the ball! People love giving his stat padding game a pass. Kyrie should be their leading scorer, Luka could average a 22 point triple double and the Mavs will smack anyone.
Mavs will never be better then pre trade this kyrie thing is a joke it's obvious him and Luca don't mix.
Rim protection or not, a lot is depending on the health of Luka and specifically his thigh, which has been a problem since March. If he doesn't have his legs and that quick first step, he can't carry the team through the regular season.
Luca talks too much to the referees and makes his team weak. We could see it again at the Basketball World Cup. As long as he doesn't change his attitude towards the game, he won't win an NBA title. Luca gets distracted from the game and it's very easy to calculate. He should finally take a step forward in this regard and learn from this mistake. I wonder why no one tells Luca.

No, they should have done anything possible to get Vucevic. They need a BIG scorer. He would blend very well with Doncic. I like them keeping Kyrie. Mark Cuban is the right owner of a team that’s able to communicate effectively with their players
Mavs miss the playoffs Imo. Team didn’t improve enough and the west is way too stacked at the moment. 9 or 10 seed at best. I also don’t think you can have both of your backcourt players mediocre or below average on the defensive end in todays game and it work well
