[Jackson] If Damian Lillard is traded to a team other than Miami, he is expected to immediately ask the new team to be redirected to the Heat.

Source: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article278140147.html

> A source said this week that Portland generally has continued to be reluctant to engage the Heat in serious talks and has acted disinterested in getting a deal done quickly with Miami, though that conceivably could change as the start of training camp approaches in early October.

> If Lillard is traded to a team other than Miami, he is expected to ask to be traded to the Heat.

> “I think there are teams that will trade for him,” Wojnarowski said. “But it’s a little bit of a negotiating crutch where you tell Portland, ‘Hey, I’m not offering you everything we might because we’re taking risk here.’

Wow a Heat beat reporter saying something that benefits the Heat that’s crazy

  2. nowhathappenedwas

Jackson’s sources for the line in OP’s title are Woj and Lowe’s reporting.

    So this isn’t new.

You can ask whatever you want to ask but unless you just refuse to play you’re under contract and no team is compelled to trade you.

This information has already been factored into any other team who may trade for him. Putting it out there means nothing.

I’ve never seen a man completely destroy his reputation as a fan favorite in such a short period of time

Edit: Yes, those who have done illegal things have done it faster. I meant non illegal things.

This is a massive fall from grace regarding everything Dame really stood for as his brand

  6. TuqiDuque12

Wow so he would, and I quote “keep switching teams…running from the grind” ?

  7. StanleyStutters

Wait wait wait. You’re telling me Dame wants to play for Miami!?!?

  8. Bababooey98

So what happens if the Blazers don’t trade him to the Heat. Will he just sit out for 3 years until his contract ends? Or will he play and just half ass it the whole time?

  9. SnooCupcakes9716

If I was Portland I wouldn’t trade him then. He’ll be playing out that contract until he changes his mind.

  10. SureEntertainment676

What’s the over under on how many articles we’ll see about this saying the exact same thing?

  11. eltaquitoloco69

Player empowerment and its consequences have been a disaster for basketball fans

  12. FullEntologist

I would 1000% call Dame’s bluff. And if Toronto traded for him and he refused to play, that’s really fucked up on Dame’s part.

  13. Cavaniiii

He doesn’t deserve an out. I’ll be so disappointed in the state of the league if he ends up on the heat after all of this.

  14. Autpcorrectbpt

What a way to make people do a 180 on you in just 2 months, do it just to see his reaction

  15. DisturbedTomater

it’s crazy how much dame and his agent have tarnished his reputation over the past few months

  16. grapeandgilbert

I’m starting to despise this fuckin cornball

  17. pascaleon

If I’m Portland I just say fuck it and trade him for the best haul and let the next team deal with it. Dame lost his leverage signing that extension and if he wants to sit out like Ben Simmons he will just keep getting fined, ruin his reputation, and miss out on the last few years of his prime

  18. Hogo-Nano

Lmfao. This random report comes out after rumblings of a new team being interested.

It is an attempt for Lillard to create leverage where he really has none. He will be traded to Miami eventually but the Blazers are in no rush to trade him until Miami gives them everything they could possibly want. (Probably a huge pile of picks).

Crazy I used to be a huge Dame fan but he’s been acting like a diva. Yea he’s been loyal to Portland. FOR A KINGS RANSOM

  20. SomeManSeven

“If Damian Lilard is traded to a team other than Miami, he is expected to murder all the teammates and their families until he is redirected to the Heat.

  21. likesexonlycheaper

I used to really like Dame. Now I can’t stand the dude. What a bitch

  22. cindad83

Could Lillard force his way out say…walk into practice first day of training camp and start smearing poop on the floor or maybe just start cursing out the owner, GM, etc…maybe a Twitter Rampage?

Or who is a big sponsor of the Arena in Portland start dragging their business? Like say so-so restaurant sucks. And just make the team get him out of town…

Like say I wanted out of Detroit. I get surely write a one way ticket out just start bashing The Ford Family, Illitches, or Gilbert’s very publicly…they get you out just to avoid the bad press.

  23. ireallydespiseyouall

Shouldn’t have signed an extension with portland Then

  24. He sold himself the idea of being traded to the Heat and fell in love with it. Now it’s hard for him to imagine going anywhere else.

  25. GoldenKnight239

Talk about burning all the goodwill you’ve built up over your career. He should have just signed there but he’ll act like it wasn’t just the supermax and “Portland lying”… LAME DAME

  26. matt24671

Would Silver possibly veto a Heat trade? You know he hates this situation.

  27. hotterpocketzz

man the NBA script writers are going crazy

  28. musicalpants999

Fuck this guy. I don’t think this should be allowed, you shouldn’t be able to force a trade to a specific team.
