[Niko] Dame saying he’d never do what KD did is also a little hypocritical to me Cuz in reality Dame is forcing his way to a team that just lost in the NBA Finals with the belief he can get them over the hump to win a chip

\[Niko\] Hell, KD was a UFA so that choice was well up to him, Dame is demanding the move to a championship caliber team You can pick and poke at it but outside of GSW being who they were I don’t see much of a difference, MIA was just in the Finals.

KD at least had the freedom of movement with unrestricted free agency.

    Dame signed the contract.

  2. Top-Consequence-911

If Dame doesn’t end up winning with Miami, I will never stop laughing.

  3. nibbinoo8

it was more league breaking what KD did but what dames doing is worse IMO (without being as league breaking)

  4. Sicko_Mo_Bamba_Mode

Blazers fans should boo the fuck out of Dame tbh

  5. Obvious_Parsley3238

73 win team that had already won a title versus an 8 seed that got creamed in the finals?

  6. Durant also joined the team that lost in the finals. The similarity is uncanny.

  7. Syndana23

Dame is looking at the details of it IE 73 wins, warriors just beating OKC etc

But the reality is Dame is pulling just as big of a “weak” move as KD by trying to force Portland to take chump change so he can go to a team that made the finals without him and can probably do it again.

KD also honored his contract in OKC, which is the biggest point here. Dame is putting Portland in a bad position

  8. Going to the finals in the east last year was a lot easier than going to the finals in the west the year before Durant joined GSW.

Choosing a team that hasn’t won a chip, who’s best player is jimmy butler, is completely different from choosing a team that was a shot away from winning a chip that year and going back to back, and who’s best player was the unanimous mvp and a top 3 player. And the heat didn’t have a shot in hell of beating the nuggets. Many ppl probably think that if dame was added to that team they still wouldn’t have beat the nuggets. I think they would have won, but it’s completely different from kd joining the warriors, where everyone knew it was unfair the moment it happened.

Let’s cut down on the Lillard posts shall we please

  11. JG951519

I mean we’ve seen what 2-3 times now where teams gut their depth for 2-3 superstars/all stars and it doesn’t workout lol getting dame doesn’t guarantee a chip. Not to mention jimmy’s missed almost like 20 games the past 3 seasons with injuries and dames been injured a lot. They’d be counting a lot on Bam to carry them in the regular season

  12. Obi_Wan_KeBogi

Its honestly worse. KD was a free agent and sacrificed money to go. Bitch move or not it was well within his right to go where he wants.

Dame wants to be traded to Miami while they keep their core guys and he gets to make his money.

  13. DEEZLE13

KD at least had the decency to lose a 3-1 lead to the most winning team in history before joining them.. do better Dame

  14. PanthalassaRo

Dame is pulling what is called “a bitch move” too.

  15. fuckitiroastedyou

We’re so out of content this offseason we’re rehashing the hottest debates of summer 2016.

  16. They got HANDLED by denver tho. And that heat core hasnt won. And its not stacked with superstars. I honestly dont think its hypocritical.

  17. TroubledMang

It’s different, but at least the writer is getting the attention he wanted.

Miami is not a lock to get to the finals let alone the favorite to win it. It’s definitely a much, much, much better situation for Dame though.

KD went to the team that took his team out, and was already considered the team to beat before he went there. It was literally perfect for him. It was a team that was a lock to go to the finals unless he went to a different Western team, and challenged them. He would probably be the #1 option in GS as agreed upon. All other teams he’d be the #1 option with a lesser cast. The exception being is if he signed on Bron, but then he’d be the #2 lol, and that wasn’t going to work for him. KD’s was an all time punk move, and lots of vocal GS fans don’t seem to respect him despite gifting them 2 chips.

  18. ImmediateWeekend6557

kd went to the team he blew a 3-1 lead to, you people are idiots

  19. ProblematicAndCrazy

Huge difference between joining the greatest regular season team ever and joining an 8th seed that somehow scrapped their way to the finals

  20. Crazy how fast we went from 8th seed fluke to literally the 73-win Warriors

  21. Piss_Sage

Lmao. r/nba is in its feels so bad it’s comparing Jimmy butler and Bam and a few guys from a local hookah lounge to the 73 win warriors team that had 2 finals appearances up to that point and a chip.

  22. bananacuster

KD joined a 73 win team, 73. Miami won 44 last year.

  23. ALovelyAnxiety

warriors had already ring prior and were the favorites to win before lebron and company came back from a 3 to 1 deficit. not even remotely the same

  24. Bucketsdntlie

You can’t just say “but outside of GS being who they were” like that’s not the entire difference lol.

Those pre-KD Warriors teams were the scariest teams I can remember my favorite team playing against, had three All-Stars, already had a championship under their belt, and probably would have won again in 2016 had things not broken just our way.

The Heat making the Finals this year was a nice story, but everyone knew they were just fodder for Denver.

  25. Bigchessguyman

Well Miami would actually have to trade for him and give something up. Signing with a 73 win team doesn’t make them give up anything.
Also let’s be honest, Dame has given the vast majority of his career to the blazers. He’s been loyal as fuck. He wants to be a part of the Heat winning culture, something that the blazers just do not have.

  26. Jonesalot

    Still a solid difference imo

One of them made arguably the strongest team ever, and would be able to win for a lot of years if healthy and happy, the other might not even be the best team in the league now, with a shorter window

But then again I don’t think Dame forcing his way to Miami is much worse than if he forced his way to many of the other teams

  27. I’ve seen people make this point and I can’t tell if they’re being deliberately dense or not…yes Miami lost in the finals as did GS did in 2016, but one was on the verge of being considered the greatest team of all time and came within one shot of winning the whole thing…while the other was an 8th seed that barely snuck in to the playoffs and got smacked in the finals

  28. RipCityTilIDie

I don’t care, the dude gave a decade of his life to live in a mid city who decided that he wasn’t it anymore.

If he’s happy in Miami and gets the ring he deserves, great. If he doesn’t get the ring but enjoys his life, great.

This isn’t on Dame, it’s on the Portland front office for wasting his career and never giving him help.

  29. This is a far reach, how does KD joining the team he was beat by compare? Miami didn’t beat dame in the playoffs and now he’s joining. Stupidity increasing everyday this trade request is talked about.

  30. Bigchessguyman

11 years, ~37min/game, all-time blazers leading scorer. Dude didn’t run from shit. All these fake fans trying to take him down to their level.

  31. MildlyInsaneLBJStan

One of them was nicknamed the Death Lineup and the other one was an 8th Seed.

Yes, I know, Zombie Heat is a thing and you gotta stake them through the heart and stuff to get rid of them for good, but compare that to the 2016 Warriors; they just aren’t equal.

  32. JazzFinsAvalanche

Except KD joined a team that had already won the big show before him.

The Heat did make the finals and got obliterated. Plus, in a lot of people’s opinions, weren’t even the best team in the East or even top 3. It’s similar, sure. But far from being the same thing.

  33. JackieTree89

Yeah but he didn’t lose to that same team the year before after being up 3-1. Biggest bitch move in all of sports of all time

  34. Mutantlove

We’ve really gone from the lucky play-in team over performing to being equated with a 73 win team

  35. talkinpractice

There’s a major difference between the 73 win Warriors team and last year’s 7th seed Heat…

This is just a flat out nonsense take.

  36. Halfonion

I think at this point it’s pretty obvious that Dame is wearing clown shoes

  37. alliwantedwasajetski

Dame’s heel turn this summer is the most unexpected since Hogan dropped that leg on Macho Man back in ’96.
