The Orlando Magic Are Building Something Special

The Orlando Magic haven’t really been relevant since Dwight Howard’s last season with the team in 2012. In the 11 years since he left, the team has finished over .500 just once and made the playoffs twice thanks to then all-star big man Nikola Vucevic. Even during those two seasons though, the team wasn’t a real threat in the East. It’s been a tough time for a team that has been home to many NBA greats. From Shaq and Penny Hardaway, to T-Mac, Grant Hill, Vince Carter, and Dwight Howard the team has had plenty of stars and seen a lot of NBA relevancy. And there’s good news. It feels as if the team is coming out of the dark ages of the past 11 years, and emerging as one of the league’s best young teams. Led by two elite young forwards in Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, the team may have the stars it’s been longing for for over a decade. But it’s not just the two bright spots, the team has a very nice core that it’s been building. Despite the 76ers giving up on him in less than two seasons, former number one overall pick Markelle Fultz has become a very good starting guard. They have a collection of other young guards with potential as well in Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs. Then you add in two lottery picks from this year in Anthony Black and Jett Howard. They also happen to have arguably the biggest wild card in the league with Jonathan Isaac, who proved last year when healthy he’s still one of the league’s best defenders. The team has continually taken shots on upside, and at least two of them seem very likely to hit with Paolo and Franz. Now we just wait and see with all the others. For fun they also have last year’s slam dunk champion Mac McClung. The Orlando Magic Are Building Something Special.

Think about subbing, I’m on the road to 11k!!!
