I know it’s been said over and over again, but it’s crazy how this dude came into the NBA not only game-ready, but PR ready as well. I was just trying to finger a girl at that age, not chucking lobs to guys on national television then giving shoutouts to my charity work…

  2. It’s actually amazing how similar he sounded back then to now.

  3. Top-Consequence-911

His level of poise and maturity at that age is absolutely insane. Especially because PR training wasn’t stressed the same way it is now.

  4. not sure we’ll see another like him. Not just on the court but his poise off the court.

If you would have mistyped, 30-year old high school prospect LeBron James, I would have believed it.

The dude was vastly mature, visually speaking.

    Steroids/PED’S

sounds exactly like how he would answer it at his current age. hasn’t changed much

  7. honditar

It’s so wild how his unselfishness was constantly used against him in the sports media world

  8. Siakim43

They hated him because he threatened their hero’s legacy.

  9. ThedirtyNose

They televised this game live in Australia. That’s how big of a deal he was.

Man, those long shorts were something else back then. This must have been about as long as they ever got.

  13. goblin_welder

Chris Paul’s height at 17 and now didn’t change. Wow

  14. Even the way he licks his lips is just like how he does now

  15. citoloco

Dude is smart as fuck. Like Genius level. He just happens to be 6’8 and one of the best hoopers ever. We see them every now and then. Kareem,Magic,Kobe poised for greatness from day 1.

That reporter comparing a 17 year old to Magic fucking Johnson must have sounded like such a bold take at the time. Ended up not being bold enough.

I watched this in highschool. I don’t ever remember ESPN airing a high basketball games before his senior year. Maybe other All-American Games but not plain old regular season games. It is nuts he lived up to the hype and is still playing.
