It’s a good answer, but for those who don’t want to listen to the whole video: Presti essentially reiterates that it’s too early for the team to think about pursuing stars from other teams. He mentions that the Thunder might already have that second star, they just don’t know it yet.
And he basically says the team is still too young and unestablished, and that it makes more sense to wait until the team has proven it’s ready to be a contender and knows the weaknesses they need to address. He also points out that if the core young players develop like people think they have the potential to, then the payroll is going to become an issue and the team is going to need those draft picks to select players on cheap rookie contracts to fill out the roster.

I just listened to the 5 min clip. MODS, just sticky OP’s thread, as it’s the wet blanket on any trade rumors for the entire season basically. If you’re the type of person who loves trade machines, it’s your worst nightmare. If you’re a person who just likes to see our names every once and while, it’s a gut punch. I don’t hope for anyone to post their feelings of how we get Giannis without looking at that clip.
….If you are 10 toes down on this current roster, it’s time to put on your dancing shoes as Presti basically stated that look, the Thunder doesn’t know what they have right now, so it’s time to find out.
I agree, but only because I’m too afraid to lose out on any of these players as so many of them have “potential star” written on them. Reminds me of Sabonnis. The PG trade is one you make 10/10, but damn, I just wish it was anyone else but him.
He was correct: we’re barely a .500 team. Wrong time to act like getting a superstar is going to push us to a ring. Nonetheless, it’s the offseason: I welcome organized chaos and the conversations that spark from them. Much better than the “well who are we going to cut???” topics!
I suggest everyone take the 5 mins to listen as it’s truly a long way of him talking to our fan base and tempering exceptions for seeking outside talents.
With that typed, he wasn’t on that “well, we gotta look at our future” bullshit, so the tank is retired!!!!!!!!

Does this mean we’re not getting Giannis?

It’s shocking how directly he answered this question bc he has given (albeit slightly coded) answers to this kind of question in last year’s 2 pressers as well.
This is as close as we are gonna get to an answer without a straight up yes or no
