(Karalis) Holiday makes $36 million. Brogdon makes $22.5 million. You’d have to include Robert Williams to get there. Or Horford + another salary. Sorry, I don’t think there’s a trade to be done there for Boston

    If we could include brogdon and picks im down but brogdon Williams and papi no way. Bit too much

  2. AirJordan6124

    Embiid and Giannis would cook if they know Horford or Rob is not on the team anymore lol

  3. Jestfulbadger888

    I thought we had a TPE cause of the grant trade

  4. Xekshek33

    We would be absolutely shredding our chemistry and that would be awful.

    I would LOVE to get Jrue, but for what we have to give up? I’m good.

    Brogdon/PP/Hauser/Walsh/Kornet for Holiday works without including Al or Rob.

    Just to be a bit nitpicky, you don’t **have** to include them. But it is the only realistic way to get it done.

    Brogdon + Pritchard + Kornet + 3 vet mins also works financially and can be done once trade restrictions are lifted in early/mid-~~October~~ (**e:** December).

    But you’d need to replace 5 players right at the start of the season. Which would be hard to do.

    Financially we could run:

    * White
    * Brown
    * Tatum
    * Porzingis
    * Williams
    * Holiday
    * Horford
    * Hauser
    * Stevens
    * Walsh

    As our 10-deep rotation.

    In theory, we could sign guys like Payne and Warren to fill out some depth, but they likely aren’t still FAs by the time this hypothetical deal goes through.

    It is NBA 2K doable. It’s just not likely to happen in real life.

    Also worth noting that Jrue is 33 years old and has a $39.4M player option in 2024-25, so if he falls off a cliff as some older guards do, we’d be stuck with a $40M albatross the same year that JB’s supermax kicks in.

    Thanks for spelling it out Karalis. It feels like Jrue is a good trade target for us. But once you look into what we’d have to give up, not worth it.

    Question; what if we flipped the grant tpe + a second to a team for a dead weight contract worth like 7 mill, and then instantly attached that player to brogdon and included a first and a second?

  10. Maxwellr___

    I really like Walsh man I don’t wanna send him off so fast

  11. freehugandkiss

    We got a 6m tpe we could use from 3rd team

  12. ystrite2812

    I’d explore it with Al even though I love him he’s getting older and couldn’t hit a 3 last playoffs and was getting burned by guards. Did great on Embiid though and is great against Giannis. Rob is such a difference maker when he’s healthy and playing minutes. Jrue is older and expensive and not great in the playoffs but still great. I’d probably go for it but it’s not clear cut.

  13. Dumpling_Emperor

    Why do we want Jrue? He’s very expensive, is 33, and falls apart in the postseason. Do we really want to gut our depth and/or our big men (who are probably essential for us to compete against Embiid and Giannis) to upgrade from Brogdon to Jrue? We don’t need to pursue every available player.

  14. poopapat320

    Rob Williams is one of the best contracts in the game. I don’t want Holiday enough to give up Rob or Al. And even Brogdon I think is playing with a chip on his shoulder.

  15. Celtics2k19

    Rob is way overhyped here. Holiday for Brogdon and Rob would be awesome.

  16. Dashdash421

    Uhhh why do you guys want Jrue? He’s overpaid and not that good

    Seeing role players make $20+ million dollars should make people riot and burn down the Boston Garden. Shit is outrageous.

  18. Marcel69

    Just doesn’t make sense to me. He’d be a pretty good drop in smart ā€œreplacementā€ (there’s still no replacement for Marcus in my heart), but it would thin us out and I’d like to see what D White can do as the definite starter with KP and Rob in the front court. Brogdon is still a really great player. Reigning 6MOTY FFS. Worst case scenario his value and contract could be huge for us at the deadline. At that point we could evaluate what is and isn’t working and make adjustments. It’s possible Jrue is still there then, maybe even looking at a buyout situation.

    Brad zigs when everyone believes he’ll zag. Coming into this offseason, absolutely everyone said this team can’t afford to make any big move. This team won’t make any big move. Then Brad goes and ships off smart for porzingiz. No one seems to have caught in to Brad being the true ā€œtrader Dannyā€ that everyone wanted to make Ainge out as.

    I think this is way too simplistic. There seems to always be a way to get deals done in this NBA. We also still have our MLE. Could use it and then trade that person (on December 15?)
