Nembhard looks like the next Jrue and is on a rookie contract. Pacers aren’t giving away their future for a 33 year old
I do not see the point in trading for him, unless we intend to flip him for assets, and if there are better assets than the ones we have the Blazers would trade to those teams directly.
Adding him to the roster only makes sense if we can contend on his timeline, and we just can’t. Not without a genuine superstar
I mean, say we give up Hield, Theis, Jackson, + 2 x 1sts (likely 15-25 range) we would have:
C. Turner/Smith
PF. Toppin/Walker
SF. Mathurin/Nesmith
SG. Holiday/Brown
PG. Haliburton/Nembhard
Personally, I think that’d be a pretty solid team, and we keep all our upside with Mathurin, Walker, + Nembhard on the team. Holiday’s deal expires when Nembhard is due his next one, so he can step straight in if that’s the player he truly becomes.
