“Really close” doesn’t matter if your job is to get it done

What’s done is done. On to the next.

This trade deadline gonna be active for Raps.

In b4 “really close in not good enough” “Masai is washed” “2nd place is still the first loser”

Big whoop, Masai didn’t get the trade done, and now we move on.

If you know of a better GM on that’s on the market, would love to hear it, otherwise we move.

Masai is a bum doing bum things making bum offers and overpaying for Dame. 3 first rounders, GTJ, and Dick and still can’t get it done. Why? Because this team is trash and nowhere close to contending. All you fools that think Raptors are close are delusional and play too much NBA2K. Get dunked on like David Robinson when he tries to stop Shaq.

  8. If he pulled off getting dame without including OG he’d be heralded rn. If he included OG, raps are probably not good enough to actually contend. The fanbase was split 50/50 on doing the deal but I think most agreed that it was a no brainer if the deal didn’t include OG and it sounds like that is exactly what Masai was trying to do. Bucks will were willing to up their offer. I’d guess Masai could have beaten it, if he offered OG but he didn’t. Was that a mistake? Supposedly, half this sub said no so I think it’s debatable and time will tell. Regardless, Masai was right in the thick of negotiations so saying he’s washed is unfounded imo.

I don’t think people would have been happy with how much the offer was gonna be even without OG. It’s a hella risky move to offer 3 firsts and pick swaps with no guarantee of Siakam and OG resigning. Could easily be a 1 year window and then losing Siakam and/or OG in FA. With Siakam wanting a max, OG wanting $30-32 mil, Barnes needing a near max extension in 2 years, don’t know if MLSE gonna want to head into the tax especially with the new CBA.

He didn’t offer a starter. Simply put, he didn’t make a strong enough offer to get a deal done.

I don’t care that we didn’t get the trade done, I just wanted to get a sense of direction for this team.. Dame would’ve clarified that in a second.

Now we’re back to the same “play in for what?” line, like why are we doing this?

  12. The FO fucked up by being too attached to our championship core, that we wouldn’t part with any of them to fix our Center issue. This led to bad management of our FRPs.

I think a lot of fans don’t understand the direction of the team and basically want anything *big* regardless if it’s good. They’re really looking for direction, but wanting the most instant feeling of it through a big trade.

In reality the new coach and system is really going to determine our teams future. It’s nice that Masai was willing to try to get Dame. But forcing that trade by giving up OG wouldn’t make us contenders. And realistically we would spend next season watching everyone learn the system.

I really don’t care about this offseason, but I want the raptors to pick a direction. They also need to make sure regardless of whatever direction they don’t let our assets walk.
