I’m not sure how to link to the exact timestamp, but Stein opens his show with some thoughts from training camp and his impression is that Lively is the starter for the season unless he underperforms in the preseason.

    – Lively has been “continuing to turn heads” during training camp

    – also said, that he’s been told that Josh Green has looked really good, as well
    – from Stein’s information on Friday: Mavs aren’t in the Jrue Holiday mix

  3. Unsurprising – he’s only running with the first group in practice.

  4. Thats crazy, how many 19 yo rookie centers are starters straight away.

Did they just not say he would be spending most of his time in the g league?

Obviously him starting would have its ups and downs but I applaud that they’re taking defense and rebounding so seriously, also was probably the offensive chemistry with luka that’s got them leaning to throw him out there. have to have an eye for the long term as well this move might pay huge dividends by playoff time or possibly next year

Thank god. You dont draft someone at the 12 to stash on the bench especially behind Powell

In my 25 years of fandom, we’ve never drafted a talented C with big minute potential. This is a weird feeling. Worst case scenario he is foul happy, plays himself out of the rotation, and is only useful at grabbing garbage time rebounds. Best case scenario, he’s the longterm yin to Luka’s yang and becomes the defensive stalwart, high efficiency scorer that we’ve needed for a decade.

Man it’d be an absolute dream if this guy ends up being legit.

This team has been center starved for so long.

Man, if this kid can become Chandler 2.0, I think we’re set at the center position, we’ll see how it pans out in actual games.
