I’m confused. A significant gap between the Celtics offer and what the blazers are asking for?

Or a significant gap between the Celtics offer and the current best offer?

Celtics don’t really have the assets to fairly pay in the market. Their picks are the worst in the league and the players they are trying to get rid of aren’t exactly what we are looking for. Brogdon = guard = oof.

“Additionally, the second contract in a Boston deal has to be either Robert Williams or Al Horford, which nukes the Celtics’ frontcourt depth … unless they make the salary match Brogdon, Payton Pritchard, Luke Kornet, Sam Hauser, Jordan Walsh, and a signed-and-traded Blake Griffin instead. A six-for-one. Whew.”

So either we get Timelord (Hell ya) or we get their whole bench including the actual wood itself. Either way, when they are really pushed for it, it’s a lot easier to just go to the Clippers whose picks are likely to be juicy than Celtics self-fleece themselves.

We are going to need Robert Williams III, otherwise we kind of owe the Raptors a solid.

I don’t know what they could offer.

With Brown re-signing, Celtics are bound to be a top team until the late 2020s so their picks are worth less than, say, the Nets, who have a variety of picks and an uncertain future.

Raptors, similar. OG is similar in age to Ayton and practically completes the starting lineup. Two first round picks from the Raptors could look good in the late 2020s, as well.
