Dude is a stud. Drafted as a potential 3&D guy and he’s shown so much more than that. Still young too, excited to see the Vassell, Keldon, Sochan Wemby core grow

$29M will seem a little rich to some considering what Devin has done to this point in his career but this is all about where the cap is going, Devin’s own growth and the expectation he’s going to only continue to ascend, and really making it clear how valued Devin is to the future of this Spurs franchise.

I’m so happy for him. He has an excellent head on his shoulders. This season he looks likely to be the Spurs #1 offensive option. He was averaging over 19 a game on solid efficiency before his knee issues popped up. He’s improved his playmaking and is an excellent midrange scorer. He’s only going to get better from here with more reps in high leverage situations. The upside is tantalizing.

Seeing a lot of people in this thread who don’t know who he is. Basically, he is built in the mold of a Khris Middleton type. Great three level scorer with deceptively good playmaking talent. Could easily be the 3rd option on a championship team in his prime and will probably become good enough to be the 2nd option on a contending team. 30 million for that type of production over 5 years especially with the rapidly rising salary cap is an absolute steal.

People will say who and bring up his career stats or whatever but I think this will end up a very good extension

These extensions get crazier and crazier each year. If he repeats last year but plays more game you’re probably looking at a much larger contract!

You aren’t exactly a free agent destination and Keldon is wrapped up on a fine 20 mil a year, Sochan and Wemby are on rookie deals for a couple years so this is a good allocation of cap space

Him only playing less than 40 games last season is why I understand people know less about him.
But if you watch him play he definitely deserved that contract.

Copy paste for Jaden McDaniels incoming

  19. largehearted

    He’s underrated but I don’t think he’s underpaid anymore.
