    >NBC Sports mentions that according to two close sources he has been earning $35 million over seven years from the Boston Celtics since his retirement. The hefty payout is from a deferred salary and is set to expire in 2024.

    >Kevin Garnett retired from the NBA in 2016, but set up his deal with the Celtics so that he’d get paid $5 million every year until 2024.

Most of the article is a bunch of filler bs about his career

The reward for what he brought to the Celtics in his tenure….

  3. SaraNatural

    How is this legal?

Edit: I mean his last season with the Celtics was 12/13.

  4. They call him the Big Ticket for a reason.

    Keep getting them checks!

Clear case of cap circumvention! His contract should be voided and he should enter free agency! ^/s

  6. KuzzyPoole

I’m curious how much he gets for promoting sports betting

  7. CubanLinxRae

worth every penny that championship means so much to boston

  8. HoyaDestroya33

Celtics should’ve just paid Doc instead of letting him coach and choke

  9. Cockrocker

How is this not a salary cap breach? Breaches the over 38 rule too. This is either complete bullshit or there will be an investigation.

Edit: I wish some one would give me a real answer, as I can’t see how this doesn’t count against the cap. They are just giving him the money? What is it deferred from? his time playing with the team? So it counted against the cap in 2007-2013 and he didn’t take the money then? That isn’t “still making bank”.

Hell yeah KG. We should pay him $5 million next year to come to 5 practices

  11. KennyBlankenship_69

Worth it just on a ship and the clip of him pronouncing equivalent alone

  12. fiendoverzealous

That 08 ring is the gift that keeps on giving

  14. DireBlue88

Would this deferred salary count against cap even when retired?

  15. BruinBound22

This is definitely bad for him. He could have invested that 35M and probably doubled it by now. Very team friendly to have deferred.

is this even allowed tho? we could just re-negotiate klay on a minimum and pinky promise him $5 mil a year for 10 years after retirement??
