Obviously not directly rip city news, but he was a long term coach here, so it’s a little relevant.

Dang, this was supposed to be like a full circle reunion type thing where they win a chip together in Milwaukee after everything in Portland. I always envisioned them walking the shores of Lake Michigan after the championship celebrations, maybe it’s just barely after sundown and the Wisconsin sky has just a touch of vibrant afterglow seeping into deep folds of a cosmic array of colors. Dame buries his toes into the sand as cool lake water laps over the top of his feet. “Man, we did the thang, didn’t we coach?” Dame says to Stotts. Terry says nothing. His face towards the horizon, eyes beaming at Dame, he just smiles. Then I figured they would build a house together in the woods or some shit but I guess now that will never happen.

Probably their new HC felt threatened that his assistant coach has a long relationship with one of their superstars.
He probably saw the person Dame had become and was disappointed.

Lol the speculation runs wild in here. I think the most likely explanation is the simplest. He likely made the decision for personal reasons and doesn’t always have to be a hidden reason involving Dame lol
According to some unconfirmed second hand source, it was due to creative differences, and butted heads with ag. Will be interesting to hear a little more on what was going on behind the scenes, if anything ever comes out down the road. We may not hear anything until if/when they don’t win a championship though.
Hope everything is OK with him, Stotts is a good dude.

Edit: nevermind. I forgot how he didn’t know how to make adjustments during the playoffs.
Guess: Terry was happy to take a job, Milwaukee was happy to bring him back and the Dame stuff was a benefit. But assistant coaches don’t get to dictate offensive scheme and terry probably wanted to do his same old stuff.

If I’m speculating- Kidd is on the hot seat and Stotts won the Mavs a championship constructing their offense, so Dallas might hire him?

I’m glad we will get to hear calls for Terry to be re-hired all season on this subreddit. “r/ripcity realize there are more than 2 coaches in the league” challenge is usually impossible to overcome.
