*”Two-way players are eligible to be active for up to 50 of their team’s 82 regular season games. If a team isn’t carrying a full 15-man roster, its two-way players can only be active for a combined 90 games.”*

*”A team isn’t permitted to have a two-way player active for more than 90 “under-15” games in a season. An “under-15” is any game in which the team is carrying fewer than 15 players on standard contracts, and a team is credited with an “under-15” game toward the 90-game limit for each two-way player who is active.”*

We can only carry 13 players for a total of 28 days this season so I expect a signing coming soon. Jamal Cain has earned it and deserves his contract to be converted. Cole Swider and Justin Champagnie are candidates to take that TW spot. If RJ Hampton doesn’t impress, then we’re most likely getting them both. We’re currently paying the luxury tax at around $20 million plus as it stands so we’re most likely carrying just 14 players entering this season but I still expect that we’re going to be active in the trade deadline and buyout market.

If we do eventually get our roster up to 15 at the February trade deadline, that gives each two-way player 20 more games with 30 games left so I’m hoping we finish in the top 6 so we can rest our players and play our two-way players comfortably. If not, there is the buyout market. March 1 is the last buyout date giving our two-way players to play 20 games with 23 games left.

The games eligibility doesn’t really matter because our two-way players don’t play that much games anyway. Even during Covid, I don’t think we hit the 90 game (30 game limit for each player) threshold. So I don’t think you guys have to worry about Dru Smith too much. I’m still rooting for the guy. He needs developing and that’s what the two-way contract is for.

I really hope we convert Cain, Keep RJ and add Cole to the two-way at the very least. I like Justin, and I don’t hate Dru, I think he needs a bit more time to refine.
It’s a shame RJ hasn’t had the opportunity to play due to injury. He has the athleticism to be the the explosive type of guy we haven’t had at the PG spot in a minute. I think that and his POA defense would be useful to use long term upgrading that guard spot
