Ira Winderman-[Context is needed here: By keeping Cain on a two-way deal, the Heat better positioned to retain him. Had he been given standard deal, a decision to return him to a two-way deal would have required clearing waivers. Now Smith can be subbed out should a replacement be added.]

Why would the Heat ever want to return Cain to a two-way? He looked solid last year, and has been great in the preseason. Meanwhile Doo Doo Smith has been a turnover machine that can’t shoot, can’t play D, and got outplayed badly by RJ.

So by suppressing Cain’s NBA career, it is good for him?😂

People are acting like the Heat cut DWade. This is just cheap roster flexibility.

Nephews here ready to close out the season before it begins.

That makes a lot of sense! Basically, who would you rather lose trying to clear waivers, Smith?
