Do you think Okoro will get extended? This might be in the range of what he gets.

Unless he gets his offense up, probably not

It’ll be tough. I don’t know that Okoro fits best on the Cavs and he might serve another time better, but also he can’t perform in the role we need him to (which is a role everyone needs; 3&D)

If I’m another team I’d take a flyer on him. If I’m the Cavs, I keep him if we feel like we need him.

  3. I was big on him but I’d use that money elsewhere. He has another year to prove me wrong.

I’d give him that deal without thinking twice

Yes he’ll be extended. Despite people feeling that they’d rather use the money elsewhere, the Cavs are already capped with their salary and if he isn’t great after the extension, the Cavs can use his and LeVert’s contract to bring in a guy who is making 25+ million. I do think he’ll get paid less than what Deni got though, I see him making 10-12 million a year for 4 years.

I’d give him that in the quickest. Cavs don’t have money to really sign anyone else. Need to retain young talent that can still develop. He’s the best perimeter defender we have. Question is, would we still maintain our MLE if we sign him to that.

Yeah probably. He’s gotten better and there’s a real role for him. It seems like his jumper may take another step. He looks bigger. He looks more comfortable with the ball. If there ever is an Allen trade, I think Okoro could move in to a larger role. I wonder if he doesn’t get thick enough to legitimately play some 4 in the playoffs. Speaking of the playoffs, he wasn’t bad despite the spacing issues. I think he could take a page out of Hart’s book to and try to be a more impactful rebounder. I think the tempo could help him this year, if they do play faster.

Sign him and buy time. Due to his timeline, he is in a position to take a modest deal, which will be under his value if he exceeds expectations. Sign low, profit. Sign low, and if he finally isn’t it, he’s still a great role player on a good contract that will fit somewhere, either here or elsewhere.

I honestly think this season is going to determine it.

If Strus and Bates can play quality defense while making some shots, Okoro is going to be expendable.
