He’s disgraced for a reason and makes up stories for attention.
But yeah of course NBA execs don’t want the raptors winning championships, this is common knowledge!

Too bad
IntriguedMck
Disappointing if it’s the league itself that doesn’t want Toronto winning another one
I get the 10am talking heads because they’re ignorant to anything outside of the 50 states they know to begin with…
GeneralLou15
The NBA still has 10 teams that haven’t won a championship yet. No one wants the raptors to win another one.

Who is the NBA? Silver? I really doubt that. He’s a stand up dude.

We invented the sport, we’re going to win another one regardless of what they want

It’s a good thing you can’t always get what you want.

Crock of shit. This “the league hates us” narrative is so childish and insecure
– Siakam multi time all star and all NBA
– Won the most reg season games over last 10 years other than GSW
– We jump to 4th in the lottery to grab Scottie who wins ROTY
– Championship in 2019
People choosing to believe whatever they read online will never not be crazy to me

There are many motivations in the incredible number of pieces to a professional national sports league, an incredibly large amount
The media talking heads are just a tiny piece of it, but they also know where their audience lives and what they want to hear
For any league, the bottom line is they also want ratings and money, and the places where NBA fans are most heavily concentrated are in a select few largest US cities and those really are Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York
Other team fanbases are far smaller, Toronto is a bit of an exception, but being outside of the US I guarantee you the US fans of other big teams are even less favourable of Toronto than even the very small market teams
A less popular city winning frequently or in a way that isn’t fashionable like for example the previous iterations of the Spurs with Tim Duncan gets less ratings coming from a very relatively small market for NBA in San Antonio or Texas in general
This is just the way of the market, but in a good light this actually makes it that much more satisfying that Masai brought the city a championship, against great odds

Donaghy just crying for attention now that he can’t get a job.

It’s just numbers.
There’s no reason to “hate” an NBA team, just the numbers mean more to the NBA (and ESPN) if an American team wins.
peroper7
Toronto’s stayed very isolated from American sports media, and it’s practically impossible to make American fans root for a non-American team, unless the best player is an all-world American.
Every company is going to have preferences, this isn’t crazy or conspiratorial, like yeah they probably don’t want many here. They probably didn’t want so many in SA all those years either.
