[Starkand] Darvin Ham says “in all likelihood, yes” when asked if the 29 minutes LeBron played tonight will be a trend this season. As he has said in the past though, he emphasized that managing LeBron’s workload will be a “day-by-day” thing.

With this level of depth in the roster, if you need 30+ minutes of 39 yr old Bron to even be competitive every night regular season…that’s an indictment of your players and indictment of your coaching.

For me, this is only sustainable if “AD” Anthony Davis is able to take complete control of the team on a consistent basis, both in terms of performance, and health.

I know people are upset in the post game thread but blaming Ham for not playing Lebron 35minutes+ in game 1 is insanity, I know we all don’t wanna lose against the Nuggets but come on …

    This shits AD’s fault

  4. kanekikochaboggy

I hope they keep lebron at 30 minutes.

    Draw a hard line.

LeBron is old and the team is balanced enough to win in most regular season games without him. We need one more big for matchups like Denver. AD can’t defend everyone and Wood + Prince aren’t true bigs. We can do pretty well, as is, though.

50mil for a player with that workload smh. If this was Kawhi people would be saying it’s a bad contract. It’s just a horrible inefficient use of cap space. Bron could have taken 35-38 mil instead to open up some space for a quality player

  7. FOR FUCK’S SAKE… This is the same shit Budenholzer pulled with Giannis and the bucks… the year he finally stopped they won the title…

I don’t know if I can make it thru another season of pockets the clown… fml

  8. AD has to take control of the team. If Dlo or whoever has the ball isnt passing yell at them idc. Like do we need someone on the bench to tell him to get aggressive ffs

I’m all for this. If the team can’t win enough games with Lebron playing 30 or less minutes then they won’t go far in the playoffs if 39 yo Lebron has to try and carry the team from February-June. Need AD, Reaves, Dlo, and the gang to carry the scoring load in the RS (which outside of when they play the nuggets, they’ve been pretty good at it).

I don’t mind. Would rather have a healthy LeBron when it counts in playoff time. If we can’t get in the playoffs with LeBron under 30 mins, we arent winning anyways

  11. chriskot123

The real issue will be if AD literally disappears in the 2nd half

  12. RockNJocks

I think to many people are way underestimating the depth of the west this year. Limiting Lebron could equal play in again.

  13. UD_Hunter

No problem but if only we had a second star that could help him

  14. LBJ should probably still be playing ~32 min a game.

You dlnt have to slam him at 36min or more a game, but he needs to be over 30 in any competitive game. There is a true primary option outside of him good enough for him to not play that much.

Also, I really hate the new minutes rotation for LBJ. Starting the 2nd/4th to only play like 2 mins or so and then sitting is awful, imo.

  15. SirThixcksAlot

29 might a little low but he should be under 33 min this season.

  16. He’s gonna play more minutes, it’s the first game relax. Win or lose didn’t really matter unless you care about the chit chat back and forth which considering none of us are taking parent in not sure why anyone would care. The real issue is AD scoring exactly 0 points in the second half.

  17. Honestly that’s a good idea, not sure why anyone’s freaking out about this. If we want LeBron to be healthy and ready to go in the playoffs, this is what needs to happen. We have the personnel to sustain without LeBron playing heavy minutes.. at least when we’re not playing teams named the Denver Nuggets.. (I was at the game 🙃)

  18. kiboyski

As it should be.. Let AD and the other cast carry the load.

  19. nickcannons13thchild

not too sure if limiting him under 30 is gone be a good idea in games against contenders

  20. ValuableAssociate8

Why is Darvin Ham so set on only playing Lebron 29mins per night but doesn’t even have a set lineup from game to game. I’m sorry my glorious king, you suffer again from lack of comprehension from your coach.

  21. Nightmare4545

Well, my predictions for the start of the season just got even worse. Im expecting a losing record after 20 games now.

  22. Large_Mango

First game – at altitude – new players – no Vandy for Murray. Relax. Puff puff give

  23. D-Lo and Reaves will really have to step up with the facilitating of this is the plan. The offense was abysmal with LeBron on the bench and I don’t see how AD didn’t get a single bucket the entire second half, that should be impossible

  24. Lmnolmnop

He’ll be playing 40 by next week, watch.

    Fool me once, Darvin Hamm…

  25. It’s mind numbing that we need a 39 year old to play 35 minutes, others need to step up.

Also if 29 minutes is the goal, Ham should at least be flexible with the rotation. Can’t take him off when we’re building momentum, he substituted him at crucial points yesterday and Denver went on a run each team

  26. KnickedUp

We know for sure AD will miss 26 games on average. Bron gonna be playing more than they think
