Genuinely interesting article, it’s nice hearing a little more details behind some of the business side of basketball.
Personally I don’t mind the black and yellow, it’s grown on me a ton over the year. I think I’m good with the colors but I wouldn’t mind a change up in the design, add a little more character to them.
Also glad to hear they have the message loud and clear about purple being dope!

Basically what I got from this was, “yes we know purple is the preferred color by a large portion of our fanbase, even Danny Ainge prefers it”
“no we’re not rebranding anytime soon but now we know at minimum we’ve got to at least have one purple jersey”
“we still want black and yellow to be our primary colors and hope eventually you’ll tolerate it”
They are also conflating people consuming black and yellow products as an endorsement of those colors. When it could just mean people are buying what is put in front of them. I’m sure if they changed our colors back to those baby blue mid 00’s jerseys, people would still buy those too

> “Consumption,” Smith later clarified, is a mix of merchandise sales and what the organization sees around the Delta Center.
So it isn’t something really measured. It’s their perception that it’s more popular than anything they’ve ever done.

I still liking the yellow & black color scheme, just add some more flair to it.

Then I will continue not to purchase any of the black and yellow items. Simple as. It’s his choice as owner to keep those colors and it’s my choice as a consumer not to purchase it.

I don’t have any problems with black and yellow as colors. I just don’t like how dull the uniforms are. If they spice them up a bit instead of sticking with something so basic, I’ll be content with where things are at.

I work in branding. The Jazz have always had a weird brand and I do think it needs a realignment. The problem is, this realignment seems to be based off owner preference and nothing else.
