The Charlotte Hornets defeated the Atlanta Hawks, 116-110. P.J. Washington led all scorers with 25 points as Terry Rozier (24 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds) and LaMelo Ball (15 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds) totaled 39 points in the win. Rookie Brandon Miller put together 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in his debut. Trae Young led the Hawks with 23 points and 9 assists while Jalen Johnson put up a career-high 21 points, along with 7 rebounds.

    charlotte needed a win! hopefully panthers can give us some hope in the back half of the season. Hornets make this city explode we need a successful season

    Clifford might be great at developing big men, richards was a surprise and is a solid back up big and Mark Williams (granted through 1 game) seems to already be taking a step forward

    Hawks shot 5-29 on threes. Same as last year. Quin is going to have to make trades for people that can actually shoot 3's – or simply make them quit taking 3's. In the post season, Quin had them pushing the ball more, passing the ball more, and definitely playing better defense. In the 3rd, they quit playing defense and just started lobbing up bad 3's.

    Positives? Bey & Jalen Johnson. They played damned good. No – we won't miss Collins at all.

    If this is how it's going to go, 41-41 will be what we get.

    If hunter doesn't take the next step this season management need to seriously think about rebuilding. Us as Hawks fan can all agree 2021 was a fluke. Im tired of being average every year.

    Man, as a hornets fan i am happy that we finally beat the hawks. Brandon miller has been good addition despite the reservation i had for him. PJ Washington has been on a roll and man o man I can't even recognise mark Williams, hornets finally have a legit centre. Nick Richards has shown significant improvements. Terry is the ultimate clutch player. But hopefully that doesn't get disrupted if miles comes back, miles has been a nuisance for this team with his domestic issues. Mitch kupchak needs to think about trading Miles and look for a legit power forward.
