You Can’t Force NBA Fans to Watch Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets | DOUG GOTTLIEB SHOW

DOUG GOTTLIEB SHOW – NBA on TNT co-host Charles Barkley apologized to Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets after they were left off a graphic promoting NBA’s opening night games, but Doug thinks the apology was unnecessary. The Nuggets may be the defending champs, but that doesn’t mean NBA fans want to watch them play. The customer is always right and, much like with the WNBA, you cannot force them to watch a team just because that team is good.

  1. Agreed, lord knows I don’t want to EVER agree with Doug but I will never support or care about watching Denver, especially after the whose your daddy comments being made to grown men.

They crossed a line that a lot of us that know how prejudice Denver is period & then the front office made that comment.

That man ain’t nobody daddy because his team sweep 40 year old Lebron.

That’s the real issue, no other team was disrespectful like that for losing against them but apparently Denver’s coach & staff have it out for Lebron for whatever reasons that us Lakers fans don’t care about.

Congratulations to them but they got disrespectful so it is what it is now. They have always been boring & uncultured. That comment just showed their true colors including their fans ignorance .

  2. The media only care more about LeBron bc they decided to. It’s easier. Jokic could be more popular but he’s harder to market. Which is fine. Just bc Malone is pointing it out doesn’t mean it’s not true.

  3. By default I am supposed to be raptors fan (location )but I watched way more nba games with jokic then any other team 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸

  4. This is just straight facts 💯 👌
Even though I think Jokić is the best player rn, I don't wanna watch a guy who says he doesn't care that he won the championship and wants to go home

  5. A lack of publicity and attention can be a blessing. With attention and publicity, there can be more distractions and more pressure. I would be fine getting no attention and winning championships if I was a professional athlete.

  6. You are not giving the audience what they want. The audience wants what you impose on them. Your target audience is stupid people. Don't play the wise guy. It doesn't suit you.

  7. The point is that people would watch it if you gave them the opportunity, it's not a coincidence last season that people's first time seeing Jokic and the Nuggets was in the WCF last year. Look at Jokic's metrics since then, and Jokic has been popping off. People are interested. I'm not saying they need the same coverage as the Lakers, but we were literally ignored and dismissed up until it was undeniable and what did everyone say? "wow this team is fun to watch"

  8. That’s a copout “no one cares” they care about what you want them to care about. The media creates the hype and drives the narrative.

  9. Pathetic take, Doug. Further evidence that media clowns are just sensationalists instead of appreciating the game

  10. Imagine thinking that Anthony Davis is more interesting than Jokic. Also, are you telling me that narrative about Wemby is completely natural? People are just desperate to hear about him?
