Ausar Thompson Does Literally EVERYTHING For The Pistons…

When the Pistons fell to the 5th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft after winning just 17 games last season, the fanbase was rightfully disappointed. They thought they could land Victor Wembanyma, but didn’t even come close to landing the number one spot. Lottery luck has not been on their side. But with that fifth overall pick, they may have landed a star. They selected Ausar Thompson, a 6’7 wing out of overtime elite. He was playing against relatively weak competition, and therefore the selection was somewhat of a risky one for Detroit. But at least so far, the returns are very positive. I’d argue that through the preseason, Thompson looked like the Pistons best player. Which was unexpected due to the team already supposedly having two great young guards in the backcourt with Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey. The Pistons have had a lot of different contributors throughout the preseason so far, but Thompson has been the one consistent. He’s so good that Monty Williams played him 38 minutes in his debut. A game where the Pistons stormed all the way back from a 26-point third quarter deficit, and Thompson hit a huge three that sent it to overtime. They ended up losing the game but it was impressive nonetheless. He’s just one of those guys that you always want to have on the court because it feels as if he’s always making a positive impact. He does legitimately everything on the court, from scoring to rebounding to wreaking havoc defensively, and he’s a very gifted passer. The biggest positive from the preseason so far is that he’s actually shooting threes and hitting them, which was the biggest concern coming into the draft. He finished Thursday night’s game with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. As of writing, he’s leading the team in both scoring and plus-minus. Ausar Thompson Does Literally Everything For The Pistons.

Think about subbing, I’m on the road to 12k!!!

  1. I've said it before (On IG), but 1 or 2 of these players are getting traded: Ivey, Wiseman, and Bagley. Either traded or just straight benched. Cade is untouchable, and Johnson's upside is too high to have all 5 of these players on the court at the same time just ruining each others development

  2. Tied with Amen, he’s the most athletic in the league. He’s unselfish, humble & plays defense, now put that with his skill level & hard work…scary good😅 He’s going to really fly high in his first year💸
