[The Mavs Blog] It is an incredibly small sample size, but when Dallas ran out this lineup: Doncic – Irving – Green – Williams – Lively II Offensive Rating: 145.5 Defensive Rating: 83.3 Those are ELITE numbers. Hoping we can see that lineup open and close games together!

Twitter is, in fact, the coach. Kidd will make corrections once he sees this.

So, the lineup we thought would be the core five all summer? R/mavericks armchair GM’s were right again.

well, it was the lineup that played the most mins.

  4. Axisofcoolio

That should be the starting lineup

But I fully expect minimum wage DJJ to start again today

A bit curious how many minutes was this lineup played? I remember the last 2-3 min of the game and some minutes in q2.

We already know that offense is not going to be a problem with this team.

IMO all they need to do is just be **at least average** in defense and rebounding to be elite.

  7. It’s a terrible sample of data. One Spurs game just off of a tanking season.

Lineup data from one game is literally meaningless lol

Right now we are overreacting to winning a relatively close game to a team that is not expected to compete for a playoff spot. I haven’t had a chance to watch the game yet, i was out of the country, but it sounds like we played well. However, lets give ourselves 5-10 games before we talk about how Elite we are.

It doesn’t really matter if this lineup starts. I don’t even think this lineup will be the most played (Carlisle used to love saving his best rotations come playoff time. Maybe it’s a scouting thing?), but it certainly has to be the lineup we close every tight game with.

  11. I dont want to over hype anything… but… we might not lose another game

While yes this should be the lineup, referencing offensive and defensive rating for 1 game into the season is absurd lol.

Maybe I’m crazy, but I kinda want to see what a Luka-Kyrie-Williams-Maxi-Lively lineup does. I hope we get to see that at some point this year.

Starting DJJ over Green is a travesty.

Starting THJ, or going big with Grant at the 3… ok, maybe. But DJJ over Green is bollocks.

  15. I mean those are our 5 best players so makes sense lol

Assuming Lively is as good as he looks in the first game, those 5 are probably our best 5. Even a rookie Lively is likely better than any of our other center options, and that’s a disgusting net rating.
