[McMenamin] Spectrum SportsNet, which carries Lakers games on TV, just announced a direct-to-consumer product where fans can get the programming for $19.99/month (or $179.99/season) to watch the channel through an app rather than paying for a cable package to receive it.

That’s pretty awesome, but on the pricey end.

  2. dirtykirty3

So I can pretty much get rid of YouTube tv then

  3. Unless the offer includes 4K streams then not really interested.

I’m an east coast fan, can I get this or do you have to be in the area?

  5. swaggyho123

Damn thats like twice as much as league pass

  6. That’s awesome I’m still illegally streaming though… it’s about the principle for me.

  7. opeth2310

So it won’t be for the full season since the season already started lol. A joke.

  8. BizzyHaze

If they did this a couple seasons ago, I’d be on board – but I already have a nice IPTV provider now.

insane not to have an Apple TV app for it

  10. nottherealstanlee

Is it just Lakers? Or would it include Dodgers too. Might make the difference for me. Bout time they tried this tho.

  11. Choice_Marzipan5322

Still too high. Nearly 50% the cost of Spectrum Select, for one channel. Please

  12. Fuckthebeard

Well I was gonna try a month out but they don’t even have an app on my lg tv. According to this thread you can’t get it through Apple either, what exactly is the point of this?

  13. Tdg_Jglo99

I’ll still be using streameast for free 99🫡

Isn’t the season only 6 months (Nov to Apr)? Why pay $179 when you can just pay 20 a month for 6 months? Is my math bad?

  15. foozbinjex

Depends on the app. If it’s spectrum sportsnet app, then hell no. That app doesn’t even chromecast to the TV and isn’t available on non-phone app stores.

  16. Gristle__McThornbody

Jesus fucking yes. Paying 200 a month for Directv just to watch the Lakers. But then did a smarter move and got Youtube TV for 75 a month. But THIS, this is all I could ever ask for.

  17. ktran2804

Is this available now? Does anyone know how I can purchase?

  18. Hilaveli

In Kenya, it costs $38 to watch ALL Lakers games on NBA League Pass.

  19. segaman1

20 bucks for one channel? Terrible rip-off imo. Nba league pass is cheaper and so is the NBA team pass lol

  20. StoneColdAM

That’s pretty pricy (at least also has Dodger games?) but finally glad there’s an option to watch Laker games without a traditional cable package.

  21. SurgeFlamingo

Man I asked for this ten years ago.

Will the app feature other stuff too?

  22. Juaniscool-8

My parents pay for cable it doesn’t matter

  23. Accomplished_Drive20

Lol at all the people who still pay 🤣

  24. That’s $5 more per month than league pass. I’ve wants a stand-alone streaming option for lakers for a long time, but that price point is kinda ridiculous.

  25. Thank God, as long as there aren’t blackouts this will be huge for people out of state/market

  26. I wonder if it will carry the games in 4K like it does on DIRECTV

  27. I hope they do this for the Dodgers too. It’s BS that some local cable providers still do not carry Dodger games.

  28. MambaOut330824

    OH MY GOD

DIS LIKE TUPAC COMING BACK TO LIFE DIDNT THINK IT COULD HAPPEN

  29. ernie5353

I wonder if they’ll do this for the dodgers next season as well.. hopefully, can finally get rid of dumbass sport packages on my bill
