Houston with many chances to close out the game and unable to capitalize, some questionable officiating throughout the evening, fantastic performances from all the starters minus Jabari Smith Jr. who had multiple chances to seal the game late but unfortunately couldn’t. Alperen Sengun DOMINANT throughout the night on both ends, including a POSTER slam over Zach Collins, Fred VanVleet with a stellar 24/8/12 outing, Dillon Brooks clamping up on defense, Jalen Green with a nice bounceback game, but inconsistent scoring throughout and more.

You still complainin about refs?? How bout that putback dunk by Wemby nullifying by the refs robbing him of another solid highlight. Don't be salty, it just makes Wemby's reaction of dodging the Rockets in draft day more satisfying. 😂

jalen jabari and sengun are not franchise players and will never be super stars in the league . im ready for them to start whitmore over jabari that is coming the question is when.

Alpi is the best player.Him & Van Fleet need to follow them &Cam & Brooks are after that
Jabari has the heart and desire, he just doesn’t have the skill yet to really be a factor. Not being able to handle the ball well enough to create your own shot and get to your spots handicaps him tremendously. The only way to compensate for that is for him to play closer to the basket, but he’s not really strong enough yet to have an effective post game either. So he’ll need to really be all over the court cutting, getting offensive rebounds and steals to really have an impact offensively since that’s where most of your points come from when you don’t create your own shot. To be more effective defensively he’ll need to get stronger as well.
As far as Jalen, I really don’t think he’ll ever be this Ja Morant/prime Derrick Rose/ prime Russell Westbrook type star. He has their athleticism but doesn’t seem to have their sense of urgency or basketball IQ. I see Jalen settling into a 6th man role like a Jordan Clarkson before long. But he definitely won’t be the first crazily athletic guard to not become a star.
Sengun is solid. If he had another solid big playing next to him like a healthy Steven Adams or Otis Thorpe we’d be a lot better defensively and on the boards. We need a strong handed big on this team that won’t fumble passes and that will snag rebounds. Something like a prime Al Horford.
The team will get better but I wouldn’t be surprised if some shocking lineup changes don’t happen sooner than later.
I hated Jabari's body language and general emotional response in this game. Al-P is desperately pumping him up like, "this is going to OT we're going to need you." This was futile. His postgame interview was worse. Very concerning for a guy that was on a high coming into the year only 2 games in.

Why is everybody so sad? I know we are expected to win more games this year but we played hard and we couldn’t pull it out but it’s just the second game of the year yeah it was a tough lost but you gotta be able to move on. Never get to high and never get to low
Another thing why would you even attempt to dunk on Wembanyama? You know it is not going to work
A team should be built around Alpi. If some players were a bit better, Alpi could have had a triple double today and the team could have won. They will get much better with time. I am looking forward to the games.
Those foul calls on Sengun were plain ridiculous. Yes Jabari missed shots but they were high pressure because the league making sure to keep wemby in the game.

These tough losses HURT, but it SHOULD motivate the young team to improve faster.
Thanks for that background on Jabari. I know he is taking that loss hard. In the moment I was furious but regardless of my criticisms I want him to be successful and bounce back and will also be his biggest praiser when he does figure this out.
Is it possible that Jalens toe is still giving him problems especially with removing the entire nail or is it something else?
