My Scouting Report on TJD Hints At Greatness!!

Given TJD’s incredible 13 pts/9 rbds/4 blk game (along with his excellent Summer League/preseason performances), I’m suspecting that a lot of you are getting excited at TJD’s potential with the Warriors.

I’ve been excited for a while and wrote a scouting report on TJD for DubNationHQ (by far the best Warriors news/analysis website) a while back. In the scouting report, I analyzed TJD’s college performance scoring him on things like pick and roll defense (including breaking down how he performed in various different pick and roll defensive schemes), team defense, rim protection, perimeter defense, face up offensive game, screening, decision-making/passing, and rebounding.

Given how relevant he’s potentially becoming to the Warriors depth this year, I thought you guys might enjoy an in depth examination of TJD!!

I’ve got an irrationally good feeling about TJD.

TJD does everything we need – he boxes out, gets rebounds, disrupts passing lanes, CREATES SPACE FOR OTHER SHOOTERS BEING A NON SHOOTER (Cannot stress how huge this is for our team), has vertically to be a lob threat and protect the rim. I am so high on him – on a rebuilding team where he can play lots of minutes he’s a 15/12/4 with 3 blocks player. So lucky we have him!

I was so stoked when we drafted him that I made a thread about how much he dominated in the NCAA tournament last year.

I don’t really follow the draft super closely, so when I saw we got THAT guy in the late 2nd round, I was shocked. I remember reading the scouting report that said he couldn’t shoot. That might be true, but he is was dominant at the rim in college and it seems like that is translating well into the NBA.

Indiana has been a good college program – Jackson-Davis will live on in Indiana’s record book for a long time. He’s IU’s all-time leading shot-blocker (270) and rebounder (1,143). He finished third on the program’s all-time scoring list with 2,258 career points — and he’s just the sixth Hoosier to top 2,000.

Indiana fan here and watched every single game he played at IU in the last four years. Finished third in scoring & first in blocks (Among a list really talented and historic players). Wooden award finalist too. He is a great player and unselfish teammate. I will be watching the Warriors to follow his career now.

I think TJD can reach the same tier as where Ayton currently sits.

Maybe not as explosive or athletic or flashy but he makes up for that in plain effectiveness that might not show up on the stat sheet.

I knew he’d have solid fundamentals, blocking out, screens, etc. But he always looked slow in highlights. For whatever reason he seems to have adapted to the NBA already and is moving quickly. Also has surprising handles.
