Mazzulla: “They have a really hard job and I think the more we can be on the same page about their value regardless of what’s going on, I think it’s important for our team.”
There’s so much talk by fans and the media about the Celtics’ top 6, which makes it easy for 7-15 to feel insignificant. If they don’t feel like what they do matters, garbage time or not, they won’t give it their all. That’s a reflection of the culture of the organization. It’s a great sign that Mazzulla identified this weakness early in the season and addressed it head on.

There’s hope for me yet.
Mazulla really is a great coach. From encouraging celtics alumni to join the workouts to this.
I know he inherited an established and good roster and also great assistant coaches but gotta give him some props even early at this season.
Can’t wait for some ATO plays he’ll cook once the games are close and need to score.
These dudes have a crucial role, and injuries happen. Good for Joe. I believe in coach.
I was one of his harshest critics last season, and I can’t say I’ve done a 180° yet, but I do have to admit that from the limited amount of data seen this season, Coach Joe (and his improved coaching staff) have definitely made a positive impression on me. You could see that something was done with the bench unit from the start of the season until last game, they played with a totally different mindset. It was almost more impressive than the starting unit because they looked night and day different. Props to Coach.
Mazzula kind of reminds me of a psychotic version of Ted Lasso. Instead of being whimsical and folksy he’s intense but he truly cares about his players and wants to help them feel valued, believed in and give them a chance to be the best version of themselves.
I’m really confident in Joe right now. Everything I’ve heard from him and about him leading into the beginning of this season has been music to my ears. He is doing all the right things right now, and if Brad believes in him as a head coach that’s good enough for me. He’s clearly very dedicated and willing to to do the hard work to improve. He has his fair share of doubters but I think those people will eat their words this season
