Yes I know there’s that viral Twitter clip of him being frozen on defense, and reddit loves nothing more than judging an entire players existence based on one 5 second clip on Twitter. But for real he’s been exactly as advertised. Were people expecting prime kawhii Leonard? I don’t get it.

His ceiling on this team is the Bryn Forbes role in 2021. He’ll eventually be relegated to a bench role who can give sparks of scoring, but he’ll be played out of the playoff rotation in certain matchups like Forbes was. But Beasley is a great shooter like Forbes, and has the opportunity to get hot.

Honestly, I like what I’ve seen from him so far. He’s never going to fill up the stat sheet, but he usually pays pretty solid defense. Not everyone needs to fill up the stat sheet to be a solid contributor.

One thing he did tonight that I didn’t like was game was late in 3rd
It’s 16-17 pt lead for Magic and so right on edge of us giving up and playing all the DNPCD guys for most of 4th.
This guy comes in and immediately launches a 28 ft shot … Misses ( now 0-4 ) and Orlando immediately makes a basket the other way to make it 18.
If that lead got any bigger , it’s gonna be give up time and I was pissed he just launched that shot so mindlessly.

we shouldnt judge off him by that one defensive play tho. you know, if you are a shooter who gets paid withyour pure shooting ability, your life will not be easy. when you have a hot hand 6,7 threes a game, when you are off, you might not even hit one three. so we really cannot expect a pure shooter player type player like him to contribute in a big way every single game. in fact, i was not too displeased with him so far. his defense has exceeded my expectations a lot tbh ( he has the reputation of being the worst defender in the league), he has a deep bag offensively, dont get me wrong.
