Notes on how the NETRTG changes based on the presence/absence of Giannis and/or Lillard.
* The Bucks have a negative NETRTG of -3.5. * Positivity is achieved only when Giannis plays solo (+23.8). * It drops to -7.8 when Giannis & Lillard share the court. * It further declines to -12.6 when Lillard plays alone.

Pretty consistent with what we’ve seen so far

So, that means that Giannis is still a beast and can still hero ball 1vs5 pretty well.
When Lillard is on the court the game runs through him (even when Giannis plays) and it’s not working yet.
Giannis hero ball doesn’t need any coaching but it’s good for about 20 attempts. He can’t drive through 5 opponents 50 times in a game.
The coach has to make a gameplan that works for the rest of the game.

This is entirely a coaching problem.
Griffin with his bullshit scrambling/pressure defense has the entire team looking like chickens with their heads cut off, to the extent that Giannis is the only thing holding it even remotely together by sheer force of will. It’s utterly wrecked our rebounding because in that scrambling defense nobody’s in the right position or mindset to properly box out and grab the rebounds. He’s made Brook unplayable because he’s taken away the scheme that makes Brook a force defensively and put him in the scheme that plays to his exact weaknesses.
Giannis can kinda hulk mode things into looking okay for a little while but even that isn’t enough, and when he sits, it’s a complete dumpster fire because the scheme is so suboptimal and Griffin also plays bad defensive vets (Beasley, Pat) over the young guys who might at least give it a chance (Andre, MarJon).
And offensively it’s honestly laughable how simple and outdated the shit were running is. I’ve seen more offensive creativity out of high school teams, and we’re out here begging for Griffin to do basic shit like have guys properly space out to the corners so the offensive creators have room to operate, incorporate more side PnRs, DHO actions with Dame, etc.
The entire team is so lost, confused and out of place on both ends that Giannis going hulk mode or Dame going lights out in crunch time is our only shot of winning.
