[NBACentral] The Chicago Bulls and Zach LaVine are both open to exploring potential trades, per Shams Charania

It’s time.

keep Daryl away from the phones while this is going on

edit: unless he can pluck Caruso away as the 3rd team

  2. 177676ers

Lavine is the guy I want. Offense>defense in the nba. Our playoff flameouts have proved that time and time again. Also Lavine isn’t as bad of a defender as people say.

  3. ChaseYoungHTTR

LaVine is a good scorer but he hasn’t really played “winning baskerball” his whole career so far. Not sure how to feel about this one

  4. We wouldn’t be in the mix till late December regardless since we can’t trade any of the Clippers players as filler. If we look as good as we do now a month from now there’s no chance Morey flips this roster on its head for Lavine IMO

  5. Flip flopping so much on this guy. Sixers still shooting fifth fewest threes in the league. And a night where embiid is out, no one but Maxey and Oubre can put a lot of shots up. Sixers need more firepower

Not who I prefer we get, but if the price is reasonable, cool. But more than likely, they view the amount of years he has as a good thing when most other teams view it as a bad thing. They will either keep him because no one is willing to give up assets for him, or the really really desperate teams will take a swing early.

I’m not convinced he’s the right move, also don’t like the contract

Having three players on 200+ million contracts seems like a terrible move (Maxey is 1000% gonna get a max)

Edit: to add more, he overlaps with Maxey and doesn’t make up for any of Maxeys deficiencies, from a fit standpoint alone he’s bad

Ideally it would either be someone to join Maxey in the backcourt that can handle the ball well, score, AND defend, with some playmaking chops of their own

Or a reliable two-way wing to the frontcourt, this is what I think we need more

Lavine has been a good scorer on a really bad bulls team. Can he fit on a good team with stars like Embiid and Maxey? The answer is no. This isn’t baseball or football where you can just plug in any good player on your team and it works.

  9. I wish Zach all the best in his future endeavors, and I’m not sure how much I want him here.

I think he takes shots away from Tobias, and I like Tobias as a fully empowered #3 option. He drifts as a #4.

Embiid and Maxey will have the ball most of the time and I don’t see enough shots for Zach.

  10. I’m sure he would look better in this system but his jumpshot disappears far too often to be worth that contract as a one-way player.

And most of the salary matching possibilities look awful.

  11. movieheads34

Don’t do it man. We have a good thing going. Everytime we bring in a star via trade it messes up.

Forgetting that the skillset and fit for us is questionable at best, TRADE VALUE and TIMING are issues here.

Tough thing for matching salaries on Lavine’s 40m would mean trading away Morris Sr. // Melton // Kork with a few other small salaries as filler. Morris can’t be traded until January as he was just traded here. And with a package that’s expiring filler, Morey needs to empty out the FRP trove for Lavine to make the move worth it for the Bulls.

It’s just tough to imagine Bulls are waiting for a few months for our package of players/picks if they’re interested in moving Lavine, and I can’t see how it helps us short or long term to have the basic package be Lavine for Tobias, which is the only way the $ works out in the short term before Morris Sr’s 17m becomes available to trade.

  13. 1HasNoNam3

This would be a terrible, terrible move.

We have enough offense between Tyrese, jo, Tobias, and KO.

We need another ball handler that can facilitate for the 2nd unit, or a another guy that can shoot and play defense.

    No stars.

  14. Double00Cut

I want him but it’d be too expensive. If he bought in to the vibes we got going, we’d be otw to the Finals.

  15. MisterBlern

    $40 million this year

    $43 million next year.

He’s not worth it at all.

The age of the Super Team is over. Continue adding depth, role players. Everything revolves around #21 and #0.

  16. TooManyPenalties

Best option is to wait imo. The way to go is the Denver route for us, surround embiid and maxey with depth and we are seeing that work now. Adding another guy who is gonna want the ball isn’t the way to go.

  17. ThereAreDozensOfUs

Marcus Smart + a ball handler would do wonders for this team

  18. ProcessTrusted

The more important thing is that Bulls see they need to rebuild. Chicago fire sale will commence. Come home Caruso

  19. TheGreenLandEffect

I’m not sold on LaVine, especially if it guts our roster. What would we have to trade for him to match salary?

But tbf, Oubre had lots of criticisms coming into this season and has been balling out in our team under nurse. Tobias is thriving in the new system.

Maybe LaVine would do the same

  20. embiidDAgoat

Totally out on LaVine. I would love to see a deep as fuck bench/roster like Denver if we do anything with a max roster slot worth of space, rather than killing it for this fucking guy.

  21. dabigchina

It’s time for what? For us to not be interested?

  22. BabaBrody

You sneak in now and get Caruso before they try to package him in a bigger Lavine deal.

  23. Hoosier1212

Does he mention the Sixers? If so, can someone post that part here? Paywall

  24. All I got is a Tobias Furkan and a Springer no picks, couple of seconds maybe.

  25. dat_waffle_boi

I’d be happy with Caruso. Don’t really want anyone else from the bulls as good as LaVine and Derozan are

  26. mistergrape

Don’t want him. Don’t need him. Give us 2 FR picks and we’ll take him off your hands.

  27. hoagieclu

i think this would be a stupid trade to make. people on here bitch and moan about tobias but want to trade for somebody that’s basically the same player (and just as overpaid) lmao. i’d rather trade for a caruso type player if i had to choose, depth is what wins championships.

  28. ClozeQueue2

No thank you. I’d enjoy some Caruso goodness. But more star power isn’t the answer, depth is. Let us cook, we’re looking so good

  29. tigerpawn

Don’t want Lavine but I’d love to get in on this deal re-routing another better fitting “star” player

  30. Lockhead216

No thank you. I rather take Caruso and Drummond

  31. PhatYeeter

They’re gonna want like 3-4 Firsts for him which isnt going to happen.

  32. Vince Caruso is like everything I wanted Jerryd Bayless to become
*(in the category of white guys with sweatbands who somewhat resemble Elmer Fudd)*

  33. Gatorpep

how sixers would it be if we fucked and up and immediately added this dude after this start?

    i’m reading, i know it’s destiny.
