  1. No mainly for his contract, but also for his lack of D

The Pels three major needs are rebounding, interior defense, and veteran leadership.

And you are asking if the Pels want Zach LaVine.

Hell no, his contract is disgusting

he’s so ball dominant it’s not even funny, he passes barely ever, he plays zero defence like doesn’t even try, he can’t rebound or box out for shit and he’s incredibly streaky

They were all descriptions from bulls friends of mine lol

Like I’d rather keep cj than trade for Zach

Having to match Zach’s salary (40m) limits who the Pelicans can ship out. The Bulls won’t want CJ (35.8m). That means we would have to send Brandon (33.8m) or Zion (34m). There is no power forward or big on the roster that can replace Zion’s production, so it comes down to Brandon for Zach.

On the positive side, this frees up a lot of small forward minutes for Trey Murphy, but it would hamper Herb and Hawkins. Floor spacing would be much better with CJ, Zach, and Trey. And I think Zion benefits from having more space.

I think the move might make us a better regular-season team, but Brandon’s midrange skillset is so important in playoff games. We saw it when we played the Suns. Downgrading size and length is rarely ideal. And we’d also be committing to a longer contract with an older player.

I don’t think it’s the right move for the Pelicans. Ultimately, it just papers over the fundamental problems the team has and takes away a critical type of player needed in the playoffs. Unless Trey became that type of guy during the offseason, I wouldn’t want to give up BI.
