Sources say I just farted. Details soon.

I think we need to be selling and developing as opposed to committing to this team.

Lavine would be a massive upgrade for the Raptors. But is he good enough to push us to top 4 contention in the East? I don’t think so

I don’t think we’d be looking into this but it does also mean that the market for other players on our side might start to heat up. I think most teams are evaluating what they should look at within their teams. Would a team like Indiana or Atlanta decide they should go for it and offer some assets for OG/Pascal?

I just don’t see a situation where we’re in on this unless the Bulls really like GTJ. Obviously we’ve got the salary filler and we’d have to throw some picks, but I don’t see Masai parting with more than 1 first to bring in LaVine.

This would also guarantee we’re going into the tax next season, since you don’t do this and move on from Pascal.

Is LaVine going to be okay with not buying the undisputed guy? He’s had some conflicts in the past with coaches not giving him the role he wanted.

What would a starting lineup look like with LaVine? Doesn’t Poeltl move to the bench and LaVine slot in as SG with everyone moving down a spot? Does Schroder go to run the bench unit?

If the Bulls want GTJ, Boucher, Thad and single 1st then fuck it, let’s go for it, but I imagine someone easily beats that package.

Lmao terrible fit here ,, plus what does Chicago even want from us? OG ?

  6. Desertsprinter

I don’t see how adding lavine while giving up OG makes us better

  7. ImaginaryAudience2

If he’s for cheap I say go for it

  8. Icy-Lime-9760

Toronto needs to be sellers not buyers

  9. HotRespond5622

To be honest there is a few guys I look at and just don’t like there personality Zack Lavine is one of them few others play on the wizards Kuzma and Poole . We would never let some of these guys in .look what we did last night to them

Question as always is the price. Lavine will get a lot of interest, and given that the Bulls apparently want to keep DeRozan they will likely want Pascal or OG.

Trading OG for Lavine doesn’t really help our shooting woes. Pascal is obviously the better player but Lavine might rebalance the roster better, and is under contract for 3 seasons (4th is a player option). But it would be risky, and our FO has usually been risk averse.

  11. OGnotAnunoby

Unless they want gary ion think we have what theyd want either way i think we end up selling

  12. zellmerz

Not someone we should be looking at. This team while not terrible isn’t close to contention. It’s going to be a few years before we can reach that point so Lavine gets us nowhere.

  13. Lavine is “do not touch”. He’s an over-priced, over-rated all offence no defence player.

He is the exact type of player that does not contribute to winning.

So crazy the Bulls have 3 of them. Terrible GM’ing.

  14. It’s a very interesting idea. I just can’t imagine we’d be the best offer.

I’d imagine the offer would need to be something like:

Gary, Boucher, Thad, Gradey plus two firsts.

Then maybe bring Jakob or Dennis off the bench?

A rotation of: Dennis/Zach/OG/Scottie/Pascal/Jakob/Otto/Precious/Malachi would be a really good team. That said, it’s not enough to really push us into contender territory, nor would it solidify our free agency issues (aside from Gary). It would also make it really tough to keep building without any draft picks (or picks to trade). I can’t see us being in a great position to re-sign Pascal/OG in the summer (while also extending Scottie) with another 40 mill contract on the books.

If Chicago would do the trade without the firsts (so just Gary, Boucher, Thad, Gradey), then I’d say yes for sure. But the combined trade cost and salary issues make this one a “no” for me.

  15. No way Bulls and Raptors do a deal with each other. If Masai deals pascal it will more than likely be to a team in the West.

  16. I want Scottie get more touches and develop more. I don’t want to add guys who need to ball plus we are not contenders.

  17. TinnieTa21

    FFS Don’t do it.

Only other team deeper in purgatory than this team is Chicago. This move is essentially saying, “you think Chicago has it bad? Just you wait.”

  18. Eastern-Technology84

Think about what the Bulls would want for Lavine. Young prospects and FRPs. No thanks.

  19. cad_internet

In a vacuum, he’s actually a good fit on this team. There’s enough defense on the team to cover for him, and he’s exactly the type of offensive creator/shooter the team lacks.

However, given his contract, that’s a hard pass. The Raptors also can’t make the salaries work.

  20. MDS_1996

If the cost was Gary and Precious as the young assets, along with filler and max 2 1sts I’d consider it, but anything else I’d walk away.

GTJ/Precious/Thad/OPJ works cap wise and keeps them under the tax for the rest of the season, but you’d have to be committed to Lavine and the rest of the roster and be willing to go into the tax from the 2024-2025 season onward

  21. jayskipz

Raptors don’t need any more low BBIQ players

  22. Cheechers23

The Raps could really only offer salary relief. Don’t think we should even be offering a first lol. You call them and offer GTJ, Thad, Otto, and Precious/Malachi, who are all expiring contracts, and see if the other offers have somehow been worse lol

  23. ExtremeNo1952

Trading for Lavine would make us even more mid

  24. motherseffinjones

Why would we want him lol we need to blow this team up and start a rebuild around Barnes

  25. ImmaFunGuy

He’s too low of a player for Masai to trade for. Masai likes the Thad and jakob “top 10 center” Poeltl type trades

  26. karlou1984

OG + fillers for Lavine and I’m in. One of OG or Siakam is gone anyways (if not both) at the trade deadline or we risk losing them for nothing (again). Also, if the deal includes one of Boucher and and/or Malachi, that’s a bonus right there.

  27. Having followed the Bulls, Lavine gets tunnel vision and resorts to Hero Ball Demar minus the play making and handles. I’d say hard pass tbh. He can be streaky and put up some crazy numbers.

  28. crackhousebob_

Chicago has realized that they are stuck in No Man’s Land. Masai still in denial.

  29. Kevita24

We can’t afford him unless they trade Siakam but I don’t see how getting rid of Siakam and adding Lavine would make us a better team…he’s a better fit beside Barnes as he can space the floor and shoot off the ball but he’s not on Siakam level as a two-way player so it’s not making them better…it’s a sideways move at best

I’d rather hold out until a top-10 PG/SG becomes available and then try to pounce
