This team has been showing us for 3 straight seasons that they are no more than a .500 team. Might be time to believe them. So many bad habits on defense you see why they can’t win consistently.
Also I don’t care who the opponent is, 3 straight home losses cannot happen. Period.

Outside of JJ it’s just the same broken record every night, disheartening part is the lack of improvement
Looking through the box score there’s not a single stat that is significantly different between the two teams except FT%.

Trae Young and Jalen Johnson (only players in the positive) both double-doubled. That’s kinda cool.

DEFENSE. DEFENSE. DEFENSE.
We gotta be serious on defense if we wanna win games. This is not even a “Trae only” problem anymore on that end. Bogi and Saddiq has been dog shit on that end. CC and OO been getting bullied in the paint. It’s not even just letting Embiid, Maxey, and Tobias get going. That’s fine because they’re top 3 in scoring options. We’re giving away free points not defending simple shit like backdoors cuts to Jaden Springer. Giving away open shots to House and Melton because guys being lazy to run to the 3 point line. Offense is not a problem. We can score with anybody. Trae is a walking top 5 overall offense in his sleep and we got a coach who has boosted that. Just gotta have some pride to stop your man.
At this point we need to move on from capela and hunter. Not sure how but I’d go for pascal and some sort of spacing big. Hunter just doesn’t supply that offense and defense that we need. Capela has certainly lost his legs. He looks like a soft puppy against all centers
Guess it’s just time to accept that this core is never going to be taken seriously because they don’t take themselves seriously. The losing culture has permeated too deep into their psyche and this is just who they are and who they’ve shown us they are for years.

This team doesn’t have the ability to get defensive stops. All of the great defensive stretches this season have actually been more of a stretch of bad play by the opponent more than it has been good defense from the Hawks. Damn near every game has been a slow start capped off by the inability to get stops in the 4th.
Nobody is in the mood for optimism right now, I get that. Also completely understand that “it’s a long season” leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths because it’s what we heard last year. I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to hear it.
With that being said, I’m still not giving up on the season after 12 games. The team offense looks noticeable more fluid than it did last year. The team desperately needs to learn to play a full 4 quarters. Rebounding needs to improve dramatically as do defensive rotations. The team has been allowed to develop bad habits under bad coaches for 5 years, and I think it’s unfair to expect Quin to break them in 12 games. He is NOT above criticism… at all, I have my critiques of Snyder too, but the team is still a work in progress.
This isn’t even addressing how that Dre ejection drastically changed the tempo and momentum of the game, but that’s a different issue.
There’s work to do. Possibly some trades to be made, but I still feel the team is making a step towards progress, albeit a slow step, to get on the right track, even if it looks eerily similar to last year.

When Tobias Harris outscores our best players and he gets double digit rebounds and shoots way more efficient then guess what you shouldn’t win.
14-42 from the field for Bogie,Trae, and DJ is super losing basketball.
I’m going to leave off by saying this. The reason we are losing is because of the defense. I keep seeing people say we need to play AJ Griffin, but he is also part of the ball-watching/ letting back door cutters through the problem. He has great talent but needs to hone in on being more focused on the defensive end, so I understand why Quinn is not playing him.
I also want to say it is a fresh air of breath anytime I see Wesley Matthew’s play because of his defense. He puts effort and adds a bit of grit to certain parts of the game. Aside from this, the Hawks need to add 3&D. I know two players that could be targets in the Raptors, which are both OG and Pascal. Despite what others say about KAT, he would be an excellent addition to our offense, allowing us more schemes and easier penetration to the rim when we have a shooting big.
If we cannot get any of those players, then screw it, we need dogs on the squads. Maybe an Alex Caruso?

It’s incredible how mid the Hawks are. We aren’t good enough to beat the top contenders in the East, aren’t bad enough to get a Top 5 pick. We are perfectly mid.
