Deni Avdija not a fan of road fans taking over Cap One: “Gets me angry sometimes, honestly. Playing in your city and having the whole stadium cheering ‘Let’s Go Knicks’ … Not something you’ll see in Europe … This stadium needs to chant ‘Let’s Go DC’, that’s how it needs to be.”

Oh Deni, my sweet summer child…
bro you play for the wizards
if one of these teams had a partizan belgrade crowd adam silver would ban them for the rest of the season
Feel bad for competitive guys like this. Not his fault the team is rebuilding and that Wizards fans don’t show.
In Europe, they would’ve gotten chased out of the arena. His heart’s in the right place though
Real one
blud wants Senators to pull up to his games
Maybe once the organization finally puts out of winning product, the fans will start to show up. Sucks for the players tbh. It’s not their fault.
It was absolutely brutal watching a full game of the Wizards last night. I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like playing with Poole (and to a lesser degree Kuzma, but still) every night as a competitive guy who plays hard.
I know the Wiz are tanking but that was some of the grossest basketball I’ve seen in a long time. Not sure how they expect to really develop guys like Deni, Kispert, or Bilal playing in this YMCA slop. I don’t blame the fans for not showing out to watch this trash, but also can’t blame Deni at all for being frustrated.
They haven’t trotted out a product worth cheering for since like 2017. I do agree and like his mindset on it though.
ain’t nothing happening there to be chanting let’s go
honestly, america’s sports atmosphere is tame af, and i dont get it. i went to an LAFC game and the supporters section chanted the entire 90 minutes. they didnt even stop for a 10 second break. and thats just american soccer that has been influenced by other soccer leagues. imagine the actual other leagues.
i wish we had a supporter section that makes for insane atmosphere,
I watched a half of Wizards ball and it was bad vibes city. The rookie who’s name I will definitely mis spell looks great though. Hope they can get it together but it’s gonna be a minute
We don’t care about Europe
Maybe start shooting that orange sphere thingy inside the basket, then the fans will show up more.
Tell that to our owner. Or that fact that DC and the large developed area around has quickly become one of the most competitive housing markets to start a family.
This area is mostly transplants who go to games to cheer for their visiting team.
The locals are here but there is no networking or community for it.
We live in an area holding over 6 million people, most of whom won’t be here in 5 years. Its been a whirlwind of change in this area, my resting point is that this city has very little connection to its roots and former communities to build any continuity of fandom. The team sucks and the tickets are expensive for one of the HCOL areas in the world. No wonder a majority of locals who stayed can’t afford it. Those who could, leave, generally or are among the few to continue the rat race. My city shot our rookie rb in the knee to start last year. Its a different time now.
That’s how Palestine feels too deni
He’s not wrong. Am a Knicks fan and find this severely annoying in American sport culture
The Knicks are either the 4th or 5th most popular team in the nba. Any road game especially in DC, Charlotte, Orlando and Atlanta will have Knicks fans making noise.
The arena takeover he’s referring to: https://x.com/alanhahn/status/1725871418460561527?s=46&t=ZvfQDyt4jY7uhySU0tnu2w

I know it was a blowout but the Let’s Go Knicks chants at the end of the game were deafening.
Probably doesn’t help that ticket prices are crazy expensive for any reasonable seating. Away team fans are more likely to splurge for an evening to see their favorite team.
Heat games are so frustrating to watch on tv when you see empty seats in the lower bowl… like MFer, I would be at every game if those empty seats didn’t cost $250-1500+.
Mannn i get it but sometimes its cheaper to get on the train and go to DC than going to MSG 😂
I promise you if your a good team people will start rooting for you, the problem is YOU GUYS SUCK

I blame Jordan Poole.
I’m sure he’ll like his time on the bucks a bit better
Bad team + transplant town (at least in DC proper) = low home team attendance. Feel bad for the Wiz players, but you all are paid to play basketball, fans pay to be there and you all aren’t worth watching at this time.
Wait till he finds out about football hooliganism in Europe, it’s going to blow his mind
We played the lakers last night. I feel his pain
The Wizards have the same issue the Commanders have. Bad ownership and management have ruined fan support over the years. The Capitals did not have this problem during their run the past decade. The only person in DC that didn’t want to see Snyder go was Leonis.
DC just ain’t a sports town. Too many transplants
This ain’t Europe buddy
Them give them something to cheer about because, at the moment, you guys suck.
Wizards suck ass buddy. Trade Poole and make that team reputable again
DC needs to have the Bullets back. That was an OG franchise with classic unis like the Lakers, Celtics and Knicks. The people want authenticity and heritage. The Wizards are a joke of a rebrand.
Need to get Deni out of DC.
I think what some NBA teams can do (i doubt that this would help Wizards tho) create a section for people that more passionate about the team then seeing it as socializing.
Obv i found Europe/SA/North Africa crowds 100x better as a TV watcher (also i bet its more fun to be in the crowd compared to US ones) but NBA (or any American sports) crowds being chill has some charm too. When you go to a stadium its mostly man in here. In NBA you see all types of people.
Lastly i would say in soccer/football Germany has the best experience. Every stadium is full, prices are pretty low, they have great rivalries, crowds are best in West Europe and ofc bundesliga one of the best league in the world (in terms of actual football)
Edit: NBA being 82 matches a season doesnt help btw.
Why not relocate to Seattle?
Who is going to tell him?
He’s 100 percent correct
Get this man out of DC
Still the Verizon Center in my book
He’s absolutely right. I watched them play the Mavs live this week and there were more fans there for Luka than for the Wizards. In fairness though DC loves it’s other teams(Nationals, Commanders, Capitals) but Wizards games be almost empty and the fans there are cheering for other teams/ players. Was a lil better when Wall was there but they’re much more loyal to their other teams in DC good or bad
Commie fans been dealing with this for decades. Signed an extension though, so he better get used to it lol.
