In the next month they need to figure out if Curry needs to consistently get more minutes than Hardy.
Of all the 90's players Doncic reminds me of Mark Jackson. They are very similar in athletic ability maybe even exact. Doncic is somewhat bigger though. Mark Jackson did the best when he was playing on half court teams like Indiana. Making the game a 70 possession game. Running up and down the court 90 times rather than 150 times is a big deal and can help preserve Doncic for this season and his career. To play good half court Basketball We would need another 7 footer that Posts up and scores inside around 20 ppg to go with Lively's 12-15 points. Doncic shouldn't have to be the leading rebounder or leading scorer. He should focus on setting his big players up inside like Mark Jackson did. We need a better Spot up shooter aswell at shooting guard that can move off screens and hit open 18 footers. Irving isn't that. Neither is Hardaway. Hardy and green move without the ball and find an open 16 footer. Don't make me laugh.

Mavs established themselves in the middle of the pack. 6th seed is realistic, at the same time probably the best outcome. Now they have to find a balance between developing the young guys and being as competitive as possible with the vets.
They did a huge roster reconstruction in the offseason. Lets see if they change it up some more…
I donāt think we need to make any changes but we should make adjustments depending on the lineups.
Move Grant to SF improves the defense and pick up a 4 to get bigger. Grant guards lebron, Kd, Giannis so move him to that position he is like Pj tucker. Mavs dont get rebounds so he is being wasted at the 4. His offense will be better at Sf as well.

They need a real 4. They need pascal siakam or miles bridges. Timeline wise perhaps a Johnathan kuminga.
I think Mavs will have to determine whether to trade Kyrie. Having him next to Luka means having 2 subpar defenders on the court, so the fit can be better, even if the offense is amazing.
Hopefully they also fire Kidd, as he is garbage.
All this Luka vs Kyrie on/off talk. It's time to start talking Luka vs. Brunson. Brunson went to another team with one other shaky all-star and got them to nearly 50 wins! I saw him almost beat Jimmy Butler in a 7 game series. I saw him in a recent game walk down the Heat, erasing a 20 point de
ficit…and close the deal ala Michael Jordan. He doesn't need the ball in his hands 90% of the time. And Jason Kidd seems to think it was one of his great accomplishments in getting him paid by another team. 10 years from now… you are going be blaming Kyrie for this failure. The Brunson issue will be the real answer.

The Mavs need a coaching change ASAP. Mike Budenholzer is on the market and the Mavs should sign him as soon as they have the chance. They have a great roster but they need a coach who pushes them defensively and someone who actually knows how to run some plays aside form Luka and kyrie hero ball.
It's the clutch games, stupid. Indiana just won a game without Haliburton in which they gave up 129 points. They had a 114 defensive rating last year, but lost 30 clutch games. Kidd said that they feel comfortable at 125. I've spent the two watching the Bucks in 125 point games. with Jrue Holiday! In drop coverage giving up 3 point shots on purpose. Why? Their superstar is better than your superstar. Especially in clutch situations. That is the entire rationale behind adding a negative defender like Kyrie. Luka-Kyrie uber efficiency in the clutch puts pressure on the other team, causing them to crack in clutch time.
Luka's failure in clutch time makes them subject to lose to anyone. You can't build a defense around Luka and Kyrie. See: What Grant Williams looks like in Dallas versus what he looked like with Boston. He's becoming strangely unplayable. BTW: Boston was top 10 in defense and offense both years that Kyrie as its starting PG. How? Scheme. Half court efficiency. Cutch time shot making. You had the formula in 2021.
Talking about what we will do in playoffs is a mistake. This team will have problems to be in play in this season. Schedule was pretty easy and they are 11-8 with best teams coming up. West is too strong this year for Luka/Kyrie hero ball style

The mavericks need to find a way to get Derozan! Imagine a line up with Lively, DJJ, Derozan, Kyrie and Luka. Luka could rest more and 31 year old kyrie wont have to be the only scorer on the court when Luka is on the bench.
I think Mavs should figure out what are the values of following packages:
A: Hardy, first, Holmes or Maxi for salary filler
B: Hardy, Green, first, Holmes or Maxi for salary filler
C: Hardy, Green, OMax first, Holmes or Maxi for salary filler
And whether that is enough for a guy like OG. I think OMax is a keeper, so I would prefer to trade with package A or B.

How fortunate were we during the Dirk years? From 2000 to 2011, 50 to 67 wins every single year! Culminating with a banner in the rafters. The Luka years suck so far with one 52 win season. Are we going to try to fix it?
The Mavs have very average Team, the expectations are even this year, to high, other teams developed much better and the game strategy is also this year one demensional, no 3's no win, no defence, and there is to much pressure/expectations from the rotation players.
I like Lawson a lot and loved that he could finally show out last game. Dude just brings so much energy and hustle that the guys are lacking sometimes.
The top teams in the NBA have three or four players that can score twenty or more points per game. The idea of being able to defend those teams with just two or three players that are making a good effort on defense is not going to work in the majority of games. The Mavericks are only going to win these games against the better teams if all five players on the floor are making an above average effort to defend. Luka and Kyrie have to make a great effort on defense. Luka needs to have two or three blocks per game. Kyrie needs to have two or three steals per game.
Not worried in the playoffs. Starters donāt sub out much in the post season. Unfortunately thatās the answer, Lively needs to play damn near the entire game š. Heās 19, he will be fine playing huge minutes come playoff time. Luka and Ky will also not get rest days in the playoffs where they take off games for āload managementā. Weāll be contenders just not sure how great the regular season will be. Probably finish 5th or 6th in the West.
