TLDR: Giannis this season has his highest FG% that he’s ever had at 60.7%, his lowest 3PA (1.8) since his 2015-2016 (1.4) season and an absurd 20.5 PAINT POINTS PER GAME!! Coincidence that this is with Dame who’s opened up the floor for Giannis? I think not.
Here’s a great breakdown from **Kirk Goldsberry** of how insanely dominant Giannis has been: https://www.instagram.com/p/C0b9Z8FMSAm/?hl=en
> Giannis Is The New Shaq. The NBA started recording points in the paint in 1996. Since then Shaq has owned the best seasons in the category. Duh. The Big Diesel at his apex remains the single most dominant interior force I’ve ever seen. In 1999-00, he averaged 22.5 points in the paint per game, which remains the record; however, no contemporary player has owned this metric like Giannis, who is on pace to have the best paint scoring season since Shaq’s greatest years in Los Angeles.
> Sure, the game is a lot different now – it’s faster and spacier – but shots at the rim remain the best options in the sport, and the players that can 1) get them and 2) convert them at high rates are still among the most valuable players in the NBA.
> Shaq was built to own the rim in his era, Giannis is built to own it in today’s game. O’Neal thrived in the low post and off of two feet; Giannis can drive, eurostep, and finish off of one-foot as well as anyone we’ve ever seen.
> When we look at his abilities to get shots and make shots inside the Restricted Area, Giannis’ domination emerges. He leads the league in both attempts and makes by a wide margin, but here’s where it gets crazy: among the 26 players that have attempted at least 100 shots in the RA this season, Giannis also ranks second in efficiency – he’s converted 79.2% of his attempts in this key zone. Only Toronto’s Jakob Poetl has been better, but he has 107 fewer attempts in the RA so far.
> In other words, nobody can get to the rim as much as him, and once there, almost nobody can turn those chances into points as reliably as him.
> After a shaky start, Giannis has helped right the ship in Milwaukee, and unsurprisingly he’s done that with pure interior domination.

I like watching that guy play basketball man, it’s pretty cool
Giannis is a very good basketball player, much better than me.
No, no, don’t try to argue with me, I’m humble and at peace with this.
Just a run and dunk man.
All I’m getting from this is that run and dunk man is good.
Thank god he finally stopped jacking 3’s. It was almost as good as a TO. Playing to his strength is when he’s unstoppable. Now he just needs to set harder screens.
I love when he basketballs on the court and then they win!
