PSA: marked-up merch prices at CapOne arena

Wanted to make everyone aware that you should check merch prices at Capital One arena to make sure you aren’t getting ripped off.

I had scoped out the city edition Nike hoodie online and figured I would just buy it in the team store to avoid shipping hassle. In the arena, the same hoodie (that was $75 online) was marked up to $90 (20% increase). I figured this was a mistake so I asked an employee if they would give me the online price. Employee brought a manager over who just said “we don’t price match websites”. I said “yeah I get that, but this is from Monumental’s team store site” and he seemed nervous about me saying that in front of other customers and shooed me away.

I tried my luck at another merch stand in the arena and that employee said the same thing but agreed with me that it’s messed up.

Is it just me, or is it messed up that Monumental would mark up something 20% in the arena? Like, you have enough trouble getting fans in seats, and you punish those who already buy tickets, food, and beer, by marking up the merch?
