[Charania] The New York Knicks are monitoring the trade market in hopes of acquiring superstar-level talent. The Knicks have eight tradeable first round picks and young guys like Quentin Grimes and Immanuel Quickley.

I think it goes without saying, that we will be monitoring the trade market for a star until we eventually pull the trigger on a deal.

I have lived through lifetimes of this headline.

I don’t even know what “star” is gonna become available… if any. So I’m unclear what’s being monitored.

  5. It’ll be interesting to see if the deal breaker on say a Derozan deal is Leon still wanting to wait for a better star to become available. Because honestly, while I don’t think Derozan moves the needle on our championship outlook, I don’t see a better move out there for us this season.

In other words if we know Quickley is expecting more money then he’s worth, I don’t hate the idea of moving him, Fournier and some of the protected firsts we have from other teams for derozan. Could also replace quickly with grimes in said scenario.

Who the fuck would even be available though? Everyone is locked up and paid in full. I know it’s Shams but this seems like some Knicks for clicks shit.

He mentioned KAT…..man, no. He is not a superstar. Really good player, but not MVP level guy.

Yea no kidding. Water is wet. But given the current landscape I don’t see anyone really becoming available.

Maybe it’s the 20 years of hell that we went through, when the team routinely overestimated their proximity to championship contention, and pursued superstar trades that only further set us back in the long term, that has me feeling the more organic, patient, team building philosophy is the way to go. I’m just so wary of this team swinging for the fences.
