[Grange] We’ll see what kind of returns the Raptors do get if they decide to trade pending free agents Siakam (which is beginning to feel inevitable at this stage ) Anunoby (who might have the biggest market) and Trent Jr.

It’s a critical article of the last few seasons and how the front office’s moves have affected it:

    >Young, for all his qualities as a veteran leader and mentor, hasn’t been a factor in the Raptors rotation and will most likely be added for salary aggregation purposes if the Raptors do make a trade this season.

    >Dennis Schroder has been a reasonable replacement for a fraction of the price, but the last thing the spacing-challenged Raptors needed was another starter with iffy three-point credentials.

    >But unless the returns are substantial, it’s going to feel like failing to make just those moves earlier — this past summer or at the trade deadline last year or even the summer before that — was a missed opportunity and a poor assessment of the capabilities of the current group.

    >Failing to properly judge what the roster is and where they stand relative to the competition has been one of the underlying themes of the past two seasons of seemingly aimless idling.

    >And now just a quarter of the way through the year seem to be stuck with another roster that has some quality pieces, but neither the depth to support them nor the fit and chemistry to lift them.

I feel like nba is very wide open, a lot of middle of pack playoff teams may think Siakam or og final piece

If we get a couple second round picks for Trent I consider that a win

    > **trade pending free agents** **Siakam (which is beginning to feel inevitable at this stage)**

FO about to be like, never let them know your next move, and make no moves.

  4. No one can even predict what they’ll do. Everyone, even insiders thought they were trading Fred at the deadline. Not only did they miss the chance to trade, they sold a First Round Pick! And let Fred walk!!! Wtf

No one knows what the FO will do. We only know it’s going to suck. So think about the worse possible moves and that’s probably it.

This team and coverage just pulls energy from me, and is providing less joy

I actually think the In Season Tournament is going to make more teams aggressive in upgrading their rosters before the playoffs, because you get to see your team’s flaws in a playoff-like setting pretty early in the season. In previous years, the marquee matchups and “playoff preview” type games don’t really happen until Christmas, and a lot of teams rest guys in some of those matchups regardless.

E.g. a team like Indiana has more incentive to go “all-in” now and trade some of their younger pieces for another star to complement Haliburton. OG or Pascal would both be great fits there. Same with Sacramento and New Orleans – they both look like “incomplete” teams who need to make some changes if they want to actually win a playoff round.

GTJ is filler at this point, we’re probably better off resigning him this off-season. It’s not like hes gonna have a market anyway.

At this point, Dennis has more trade value…

The front office has lost too much talent for nothing.

I think there used to be a unique opportunity this year for a bidding war for some raptor talent.

Magic, Pacers, t wolves, thunders and Kings could all overpay for pascal or OG. These teams could fade in playoffs without adding more.

Raptors would benefit from pushing timeline out 2 years to let old super team’s are out.

As much as we hate being “mid” there are plenty of teams that don’t want to be there like the warriors, hawks, clippers, etc. there are also teams looking to take that next step like the Cavs, Pacers, kings.

We do have valuable assets, if we trade them is another thing.

Indiana should go in on OG. Masai doesn’t want to go big let’s free OG.

  11. Trade Barnes not Siakam, we are so unbelievably fucked if Barnes is our #1 going forward.
