Brooklyn came into the game looking to build more before a West Coast trip on the horizon.
For the first two quarters Brooklyn played really sluggish and off rhythm. But in the second half mainly the third Brooklyn came out firing with a 40 point quarter 🔥…
Mystical Mikal Brooklyn Bridges had another solid game with 21 points while Nic Claxton had a great defensive game and had a solid double double with 13 points and 15 rebounds 🔥.. Dayron Sharpe had another good assertive game with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Spencer had a good showing with 14 points and 9 assists.
The bench as a whole contributed with Thomas Royce Dorian and Wartford all contributing as well…
Overall another good team win with a West Coast trip starting against the Kings on Monday. Let's go 😎🔥…
Nets isn't full of superstars anymore but full of professionals. It is a welcome and necessary departure from the past. As long as the team stay egoless, this team will go much further than the Big 3 era.
The discussion of Mikal's ceiling is not that important. Nets needs someone who is capable of taking the important shots and they need Mikal to be that person.
Broooooklyn‼️ 3 game streak yet again…Mikal is playing like an allstar, Day’Ron is showing us he can be a reliable backup, Ben Simmons is continuing to prove his uselessness in the leauge and overall we look like a really good group..now it’s time to hit the road for 5 games and it’s gon be litty
Any team that dominate in the paint and the odds are that they'll win most games. The way the Nets dominated the paint against the Wizards is one of the things we should try to do in the future with Claxton, Sharpe, and Giles playing well.
Give credit to the Nets defense for hold the Wizards below 100 points. I'm sure some would attribute the Wizards loss to just their poor shot selection.
Nice win for the Nets….even if it was against the hapless Wizards. They played a strong game. The upcoming road trip will be a real test of how good this team is. It would be really sweet to beat Phoenix on their home court for obvious reasons. That would bring a smile to my face.
A good question to keep in mind is, what should we do with all of the depth we acquired over the summer on one year min contracts? I’m sure you guys will talk about that at the appropriate time.
We molded and developed Claxton, Sharpe, and Cam Thomas. In 2016, we acquired molded, and developed Dinwiddie. Our investment in them is bearing fruit. We drafted Whitehead, Clowney, and Wilson that're showing a lot of potential. We have to keep developing our youth, in spite of trying to stay competitive.
One other note on Cam T being a part of the offense…In the past, he's usually just standing in the corner looking for a catch and shoot. There were a few times last night that he was actually setting screens to free up Bridges. This might be something the Nets might incorporate more in the future with Cam as a screener, especially because of how low to the ground he is and how wide his body and hips are.
Keeping this core together and trying to maximize the talent we have isn't about being "fun". It's about building a winning culture and good habits especially for our young guys as well as being a winning organization that big time free agents want to play for. Winning 45+ games and making the playoffs will have a lot more long term benefits for this team than trading our Vets for a few late 1st rounders and spare parts
This team is better than expected and because the expectations are low it’s feel good. However, I think Doug missed one other thing that an organization should be reaching for besides just championships and that’s Relevancy. It’s a business and a business makes more money when they are relevant. The Nets from an ownership perspective have been bleeding money and are not particularly profitable. Being feel good story but irrelevant is not a great to be. Not being in national games etc means you’re not in positions to grow your brand. That’s might not be important to diehard fans but for an organization especially in a major market being irrelevant while also spending considerably is not a financial win.
The Knicks can get away with being mediocre because they are the Knicks and will never irrelevant. Their brand alone has built in capital. The Nets don’t have that same cache. So for an organization the first goal is winning a chip but second go is being relevant enough to be profitable and the Nets don’t have a big enough fan base to just be mediocre and irrelevant for years and years. In the end you got to be either developing and drafting potential stars that can make relevant OR trading for a star to make you relevant.
I say in hi honor of dayron and other notable nets that have came from Monteverde. We should just draft rom there and not care about there college team. That way we know the chemistry is there but just has to be found.
Very excited about this team! I didn’t expect the Nets to be (12-9) at this point in the season (we’ll see what it is after this tough west coat roadtrip 😊) I think your assessment is spot on as far as the Nets having all good players to very good, but where I disagree is that I think Mikel Bridges is a legit superstar and is going to continue to get better. Keep up the great work, and let’s go Nets!

Hey guys
Talk about handling business tonight!

Very efficient performance by the Nets. How often do we get to say that? Really enjoyed the Harry Giles sighting too.
Harry Giles broke a sweat tonight and we got a blowout win…you can't ask for more than that.

Fact that you're mentioning the Hornets means we haven't forgetton it lol
Total team effort for a great win last night. Every player who played was a PLUS in the +/- category. 🔥🔥🔥
Dayron Sharpe is gonna be in the conversation for best big off the bench soon with Wagner and Reid.
Should be there now in my opinion but I’m biased
