[Charania] Teams such as the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers are expected suitors for Siakam or Anunoby but believe Siakam appears to be the likelier player to be dealt, league sources tell The Athletic.

> Teams such as the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers are expected suitors for Siakam or Anunoby but believe Siakam appears to be the likelier player to be dealt, league sources tell The Athletic. Siakam, 29, is earning $37.9 million in the last year of his Raptors contract this season while Anunoby, 26, has a $19.9 million player option for next season that he will almost assuredly decline to enter free agency.

> The Hawks held intense conversations with the Raptors surrounding a Siakam deal over the offseason, as The Athletic reported, and the Pacers and Kings have both checked in and engaged at different points with Toronto over the last year. For the Kings, a better start to this season than a year ago (12-8 this season compared to 11-9 last season en route to a 48-win campaign) provides confidence that they can grow internally rather than compete for the expected cost of talents such as Siakam and Anunoby.

We really should be entertaining offers and ideally dealing both. I dont understand why we can only do one. We dont need a 3 and d role player for the likely rebuild. In an ideal world, OG is traded to indy and pascal goes to sac or atl.

Makes sense, OG is not a terrible floor spacer and he’s much younger, defensive superstar.

But i wouldn’t have a problem if we moved both.

I personally think the Hawks have the most to offer if Jalen Johnson is on the table. A mix of Johnson, Bufkin, Griffen is an attractive return.

Next up is the Pacers. Would love to see Mathurin and / or Nembhard in a Raps jersey.

Kings, I doubt they move Murray and am honestly not that high on him. Mitchell is okay, and I don’t know what picks they have to offer.

Probably first time I haven’t seen GSW in the mix

It makes sense that for the Raptors, a trade with the Kings would need to include Murray, but from the Kings perspective there’s a lot of risk and maybe not enough upside over the internal improvement scenario. This seems less likely than other partners. I still the Warriors and Indiana are the two more likely partners.

    Keep OG

He’s young enough to be part of the core moving forward. A 3 & D guy who can the elite players, is hard to find

  7. zacksharpe

Having a great, young shooter like Keegan Murray develop alongside Scottie is a must.

  8. LostPants7

Which one of you guys are gonna track the incoming private jets?

  9. AlexRescueDotCom

Keep both. No matter who we get, it won’t be enough to compete in the next 5 years. Keep both and let them retire as Raptors. Direction is picked, and we can all move on. .500 team is still an entertaining team.

  10. Mid January is when trades usually start up, so I’ll ignore everything until then.

  11. OGnotAnunoby

Is it bad that I wouldn’t mind if we traded both OG and Pascal

Makes me think the Kings weren’t very interested, “if we were 11-9 we’d be calling but since we are a huge 12-8 I think we’re fine”

  13. Veracsflail1

The only thing that might ruin our chances of re-signing OG is if the reports from seasons ago of him being unhappy with his role were and currently are true. But then again, not sure any of the teams that trade for him are going to have him as a shot creator, I mean the dude looks drunk when he’s anywhere near the paint, but again he could just be deluded

  14. motherseffinjones

I’m ok if we trade both or one. We just need to do something the status quo is pretty terrible.

Has to be to the Pacers or Kings. Keegan Murray, Nembhard or Myles turner would all be better options then whatever the Hawks would offer us

  16. ImmaFunGuy

Trade both, we aren’t in a position to pay either 40m+ in their prime. You find your first option and second options first before signing the third option 3+D $40m (OG) to make a chip run

  17. EarthWarping

    Pacers have the better return.

    I don’t think they’re trading both.

  18. BurzyGuerrero

I doubt one game is going to change the Kings mind Shams.

  19. LetterheadForeign707

Watch there’s going to be all this hype about us finally selling and nothings going to happen again and pascal and og are going to walk for nothing just because masai wants the entire team for his players

  20. BurzyGuerrero

I personally believe the Raptors find themselves in a bind.

I think OG intends to leave but they want to extend him and I think Siakam wants to stay but they want to trade him.

Could see Siakam leave via trade then OG via free agency to anplayoff team

  21. BurzyGuerrero

Next year being Scotties free agent year would be a bold time to move both Siakam and OG.

I wonder how the vitriole would be if Barnes left.

  22. Active_Ad_631

Unless a team blows you away, we really should keep OG around. He’s arguably the best perimeter defender in the league and a strong 3 point shooter, perfect for next to Scottie. I don’t mind overpaying OG by giving him 35-40 mil per year, especially since we aren’t really gonna be paying anyone else and we aren’t a free agent destination.

Siakam is the prime trade candidate as much as it hurts. His skills overlap with Scottie, he’s going into his 30s, and he’s a non shooter. You can’t win in todays league with more than 1 non shooter in your starting lineup. I had hope coming into the season that both Siakam and Scottie will be solid 3 point shooters, but Siakam’s 3 point shot has disappeared. It is TOUGH finding a stretch 5 that can make 3s at a solid clip while also being a good rim protector/rebounder, which is why Poeltl is a completely fine option as a the starting C for this team right now and going forward.

I would keep OG and probably Poeltl and Gary around for now (keep Poeltl unless you find a better big and keep Gary because we need shooting and we can probably re-sign Gary to a favourable contract in the offseason). Siakam and Schroeder should be traded for hopefully some solid value, Siakam preferably for some combination of a nice shooting/shot creating wing/guard + first round pick(s). Mathurin, Keegan Murray, Moody come to mind.

If Scottie is already an all star caliber player right now, then he’s quickly (hopefully) gonna become a top 10-15 talent that we need to start building around now. Why trade someone like OG who can be a great piece next to Scottie for the next 5+ years? Do you really want to tank for the next 3-4 years when Scottie is already this good?

I like OG at SF, Scottie at PF, Poeltl at C with guys like Gary, Gradey, Precious etc coming off the bench. We badly need some quality young backcourt talent though.

  23. Please FO, if you trade Siakam, send him to a contending team, not another tire fire like this team.

  24. Kevita24

At this point, Masai and Bobby should be focused on trading for another young player who can be paired with Scottie for the future

IMO Bennedict Mathurin makes the most sense for a number of reasons

    – He’s Canadian which means he will want to player here and they can go Bananas with Marketing “homegrown” etc.

    – His skill sets complement Scottie Barnes, he’s able to score off the ball

    – He’s young, talented, confident, and has a high ceiling
