  1. > A group of Virginia state lawmakers plans to meet behind closed doors Monday afternoon to consider a potential deal to bring the Washington Capitals and Wizards to a new arena in Northern Virginia, according to four people with knowledge of the situation.

If this happens, I may consider looking for a different team to support. They’re the Washington Wizards, not the Alexandria Wizards. I also don’t appreciate Ted looking to leverage a move to a different city against us if the city refuses to give him $600m for arena renovations. It’s bullshit.

  2. As a Marylander, I like the idea of the taxes of people from NoVa being used to pay for the Wizards and Caps arena.

  3. This is bonkers. Their location is phenomenal and the arena isn’t bad.

I would 100% stop following the team if they do this. As a Maryland suburb dweller at least half of the the draw of going to a Wizards game is an excuse to visit the city.

I don’t care what any Caps fan says, Ted is such a shit owner

As someone who actually tries to go to games, I’m done with them if they move.

Public financing of sports facilities on behalf of billionaires is a scam. Anyone who votes in favor of it should resign for being braindead.

But if they move to va then people from md will have to travel 10 more minutes to get to the game! I’ve endured a lot as a wizards fan, but this is the final straw!

Ted has always been none of the most dog shit owners in all of sports, he’s just always had Dan Snyder as cover.

Checking out how our football team has done since they moved out of DC and the results don’t look good. That’s why Josh Harris is going to do everything he can to get the new stadium back in the District. If Ted does this then he will alienate a large group of fans and continue the downward spiral of 2 franchises. Hope he actually listens to the fan base but it’s not looking good.

This is just a leverage play to get DC public funding for the major renovation, and for the city to play ball with him refinancing the property deal.

The location is fantastic and easily accessible to everyone in the DMV, but the facilities and building structure are well below league average in both NBA and NHL. Concourses, food vendors/kitchens, bathrooms, IT outfitting and A/V systems all in need of an upgrade.

if you think the games are empty now wait until it’s not even in DC 🥴

  13. As a native Northern Virginian, I don’t see the appeal of this move to the fans (casual or die-hard).

I also don’t want another reason for traffic in this area.

Beyond how offensive this is on its face, this would just suck for everyone. Trading multiple metro points of entry for one, and a single roadway entry point along an already clogged stretch of Route 1. Even though it would be closer to me, it’d be worse in every way.

That’s a great way to lose the loyal fans like me who have been supporting this shitty franchise since we have been watching basketball. Never thought I would stop rooting for my hometown teams but when you are one of the worst organizations in sports AND moving even farther away from home what even is the point anymore.
