Nice to know now that Darko is open to changing the starting lineup but he still wants them to play another game or two. Gary's only good game came from starting, and his previous seasons he was good when starting. He worked really hard in the off season and coming off the bench after the work he put in seems weird, for someone like Schroeder to take his starting spot probably hurt confidence a lot too.
Great analysis Jacob. Cheers, Calvin.
Hi Jacob , I just have one question not related to this topic, but I want to know if you support Palestine? #freepalestine
No pizza party =(
Good analysis here – what has perplexed me is that it was Masai that pronounced "play in for what" and then has, as you said, kept digging to maintain a middling roster. We have been bleeding talent since 2019. There has never been more talent in the NBA than right now – Dennis and Jakob are fine players but they aren't moving the needle. You need stars that can score at will and shooters – we don't have either. This team is not that good – I've known that we are wasting our time with this roster for 3 seasons. We keep tinkering and managed to burn up 3 years in the mean time. We have a good fan base and the games still sell out. Have they let business decisions and ticket sales cloud their judgement – are they playing us?? I hate to think that but this has been so confounding. I watch several channels – hopes were WAY too high going into this year – the team looked worse to me going in – we lost one of our best shooters and already has very little to start with. People are super excited about Grady – he is a rookie – Precious is finally going to make the step in his fourth year – try again – Gary Trent is an elite scorer – not so much and remains an unproven player – we hire a player who has been in the league coming off the bench for a decade and he was going to be great because he played well in an international tournement – c'mon man. They have given us the hard sell on on these guys potential upside and they have done dick all. Scottie is a great player – I get that he is the lone bright spot but no one ever mentions how he can't concentrate and stay aggressive for 48 minutes. Everyone is excited he keeps playing well – ya he is great when we are desparate – great players know how to focus and win when they are supposed to win. As good as he has been on the comebacks he has also been on the court when we fall behind by 20 – maybe he needs to hit the panick button when the other team goes on a 6-0 run instead of waiting until the 4th quarter when we are down by 20. I love Scotties game but our fan base thinks he is the second coming – he could be great but he is not there yet. I would rather watch constant losing and see incremental progress toward a clearly stated goal then this pissing around we have been doing for years in a row.
It's obvious the front office has failed. Masai and his team decided to go for "pointionless" basketball by signing up a bunch of 6'8 and 6'9 forwards with lackluster skillsets 2 years ago. Last year they realized that traditional lineups (centre, forward and guards) are the way to go as players know their roles in their respective position. So they traded back Poetl to strengthen the centre position. I don't think Nurse would have a better record since he was playing starters 39-41 min range a game just to get the wins. This year Darko is keeping starter minutes in the 34-37 min range.
The Raptors are still paying for the mistake of Masai this year because the bench is still horrible. Four years ago, they drafted Malachi, and then Koloko the year after (or 2 years ago?). And then Grady Dick is still spending time in the G-league. So the drafted players haven't panned out except for Barnes.
There is no easy fix here. Its time to go into full rebuild mode and revamp the roster.
GTJ can still be kept as the starting SG, but then Siakam should be traded for 1st round picks and a decent point guard.
Another ridiculously righteous video by a kid in his bedroom 👎
Bad moves were sign Darko and Schroder….
not even a play-in for now !! Please play better and sign your guys. You need shooting guard.
Real talk !
We can still make 10 seed
100% agree that “selfishness” and Nick Nurse were used as scapegoats for a poorly constructed team. And yeah, the Poeltl trade is an unmitigated disaster as anyone who was paying attention could easily see would happen.
I knew you would finally come around to my position: Darko was a mistake and it's time to let him go. I had so much hope but he's simply not head coach material.
something has to change otherwise me and I'm sure many others are gonna take our fandom to a team that has a plan for the future other then sucking
Shroeder is the problem, 6th man at best
Masai has done this to the Raptors, and he’s responsible for this and maybe he needs to concentrate on basketball and not his image.
Its time for the Toronto Raptors to make some changes because time is running and if this continue until the end of the season ,they going to lost some fans🎉🎉🎉😮😮😮
You know the Raptors are bad when Dennis has the most touches on the team. More than Scottie.
All that for 20 something games with Poertl, who you could have signed as a free agent
Nick Nurse wasn’t the problem but the roster. It’s a miracle they even made the play-in with that squad and the 6th seed the season before. We’ve seen what he can do with a good roster and his time as the new Philly head coach is further proof he wasn’t the problem. It’s hard to put the blame on a rookie head coach with such a terrible talentless team. No bench depth, GTJ has regressed so bad I doubt it would make much difference if he were starting. Dennis is a bench guard on basically any other team but our guard depth is so thin he has to start.
Fred continues to be inefficient for Houston but it doesn’t really matter because that squad has more talent than us.
Raptors need to Fire scouting team. They pick the useless pieces want fit on any sense.
It’s fun if you consider this a player development and culture reset season.
Shrodder, his the guy 2 blame.
