Just When We Thought The Bulls Are DESTROYED…THIS Happens

This is beautiful basketball. No way this is a team that’s 12th in the east right now.
Well, for the last 7 games the Bulls haven’t been the same. And there are 2 reasons for that.
1 is Zach Lavine not playing for this team. But 2 and more importantly, is Coby White getting the keys to the team, the same way that Tyrese Maxey got ‘em in Philadelphia.
And the results have been fantastic.
The Bulls are 5 and 2 without Lavine, and just look at the staggering increase in White’s numbers across the board.
He is doubling his point total, while being way more efficient from the field and especially from downtown. This is unbelievable
38 and a half percent on 6 and a half attempts is already really good, but the stretch that Coby is having of 50 percent on 10 attempts from downtown is just mind blowing.
I know that this is unsustainable, but he is definitely showing that he can shoot the ball.
White is fearless on the drive as well. Even with Giannis in front, there’s no hesitation and he’s going straight at Antetokounmpo flying past him with that quickness off the driblle.
And right here, this is almost taking on the entire Miami defense.
With all that toughness, White is playing much much bigger than his size.
But what I like most about him is the playmaking that Coby provides for the Bulls and getting everyone involved.
Watch how players move and cut knowing that if there’s a passing window, he will find them.
White is at the logo here when he sees Craig inside and delivers a bullet pass, threading it through the entire defensive line.
And this one with Carusso is just…
I’m telling you, when you know that you’re gonna get the ball, the effort and movement on offense just skyrockets.
Thing is, Coby also has a habit of passing it at the last second so sometimes even when you think he’s shooting or finishing it ends up being an assist.
It happens mostly on drives as White would bait the rim protector to go up with him and at the last second he would flip it back to his teammate for an easy finish.
And watch this. Coby notices the gap here on the mistake by Ingram. So he takes off, despite knowing that there’s no way he gets to the rim quicker than these guys, but you see that it forces them to shrink in the paint, getting a wide open look for Derozan.
Same thing right here. White sees that there are 2 guys in the paint but he specifically runs towards and engages them, so that the shooters get an even better look, and you see what type of shot Ayo Dosunmu gets and he knocks it down.
This is playing for your team, unselfish basketball where everybody’s happy.
The same way we saw Maxey explode since the Harden trade, is the exact same thing I’m seeing with Coby White. And there’s absolutely no doubt at this point that Zach Lavine is getting traded. The Bulls should be looking for some young pieces or draft picks to pair them with the 23 year old guard. Yeah it seems like he’s older but Coby is only 23 and right now the sky’s the limit for him so Chicago could look towards a new beginning with him.
This type of ball movement without Lavine is exactly what happened to the Cavs when Donovan Mitchell went down with an injury and some Cleveland fans wanted him traded. Check it out right here. Talk to you in the next one. Peace out.

  1. Hey guys, if you appreciate my grind this season you can become a member, to support the channel and unlock these cool emojis

  2. This is a good breakdown of how White is playing like a team first PG. It's how Ball played when they were the best team in the East before he was hurt.

  3. As a Bulls fan I love it because Coby wanted this, asked for it. If you follow the Bulls you know he was drafted onto a tanking team under old management. He was made a PG next to Zach because well, he wasn't taking Zach's spot! So starting PG it was for almost two seasons. Then new management came in, Coby got hurt and had surgery toward the end of his second season, and he came back for his third season 20 or so games in to find Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and an emerging rookie named Ayo taking his place. So he filled the role of "Sixth Man" with mixed and inconsistent results. The term "bust" was heard around his name.

Last season things changed. He played the same role but with Ayo floundering as starting PG and from the bench once relieved of the position, he saw more opportunity. AC and Coby sort of picked up for Ayo before Pat Bev arrived and Coby was def showing signs of growth and "taking the next step" in the second half of the season.

In his exit interview…being a free agent…he was asked what he wanted. And he said flat out "I want to be a starter." And stay with the Bulls. Which could only mean one thing with Zach around. Starting PG. Which he had been working hard to become since losing the spot to 'Zo, Ayo, etc. He'd known CP3 since he was 17 who mentored him, and over the last two off seasons worked out with him as they share the same trainer. The Bulls re-signed him, he earned the starting PG spot in training camp, and after a rough start to the season with the "Lavine Bulls"….here he is. And he's looking more "for real" as the games and season rolls by. Pretty freakin' cool to see💯

  4. I doubt Coby White is a franchise player or ever will be and if he is, you're in trouble but he's a good player, the type any team could use or love to have. Bulls are better off tearing it down and aiming for Cooper Flagg next year. A proper rebuild is the only way to go.

  5. LaVine has always been a tad overrated because of his Slam Dunk contest exploits. But I have never felt he was THE player you could build a franchise around. For me, the franchise player is DeRozan and if White can keep him involved and engaged (I don't think he was last year with Ball out and LaVine kind of forcing his will on everyone), perhaps this happened early enough that the Bulls can be real contenders come playoff time.

  6. Been loving Coby White since his first NBA press conference. Happy that he plays so well at the moment

  7. he averages two points more than in his second year in the nba…im sorry, but just because he got worse when he was supposed to get better and now makes up for it doesnt make him a potential superstar. it doesnt even make him a potential star. it makes him a potential good role player.
edit: by that logic jeremy lin and cam thomas are/were both potential superstars

  8. As much as people probably don’t wanna agree with me on this but they way coby white is creating shots reminds me of Jordan Poole just better iq and much more ability o make everyone around him better

  9. Lavine and derozan on court together is a huge no no… white finally getting a chance to shine and he’s doing just that.

  10. why would you sit out lavine and show the entire league theyre better without him? trade him and then get better. his value is very low right now id imagine.

  11. Superstar Lol…Dude without Lavine and more touches for him of course he will be better

  12. Never really understood the appeal of Lavine except the dunks. He never presented himself as a leader of the team and didn't stand out as someone who can carry a team yet is valued like a top superstar.

  13. Without even watching all of the vid. Coby showed how good he could be in his rookie year but for whatever reason the team did not continue to build with him. Lots of teams miss talent right infront of their eyes, like GSW and their young guys. It goes show that many guys could be stars in the league but factors beyond their control give those opportunities to someone else, sometimes to lesser players.

  14. If Lavine will be traded, what return do you want to get for him?
For me, a good line-up for the bulls would be
    Starters: Coby, Caru🐐, Demar, a good 3&D 4, Vucevic
Bench: P. Will, Drummond, Ayo, and 2 good wing players. (If Lonzo is healthy, he and Coby should start and Caru🐐 should be 6th Man)

  15. Genuinely this is an upgrade and he deserves this after all these years. He's giving them everything they wanted from Zach Lavine right now + being a better playmaker. Great to see and the bulls can maybe come back and contend if they can get good players or picks out of Lavine

  16. This is how you know you need a new coach and maybe front office. If you can't identify talent, on your OWN team, why were you hired?

  17. A guard combo of Coby White and Alex Caruso looked like a joke to me to start the season, now I see it was a 9000iq play by the Bulls

  18. Maybe Coby and Lavine can play together again as the one and two guard or Lavine can come in from the bench for Caruso for some minutes if needed for extra 3 point shots to help win games.
