[Haynes] The Utah Jazz are taking trade calls on perennial 6MOY candidate Jordan Clarkson. Several contending teams have been in contact with Utah to discuss trade packages for the guard.

I’m on board with this. I think the time is right to move on.

I’ve expressed this sentiment a few times but I actually think there could be a “mini” bidding war for Clarkson among contenders. Specifically thinking about teams that don’t have cap space this summer. This is a way to circumvent cap space restrictions.
Let alone it’s a chance to turn an expiring deal into another offensive threat that can create their own shot.
I don’t think the return would be anything crazy but wouldn’t be shocked with a lower-value (protected, least favorable swaps) first came through for Clarkson.

I’m cool with a protected first, and some seconds. 20 points last season. Yeah not as good this season, but he’s still a shot creator, that can go off for 30 points any night, or 10 the next night. Caris LeVert got a protected first when he was traded 2 years ago, and I think Caris 2 seasons ago is the same tier as Clarkson is now. So I think Clarkson can get back a protected first too. Plus cheap contracts are valuable, he’ll be making like 14 million for the next 2 years, so I wouldn’t be shocked if a team that doesn’t want a big luxury tax bill gives an unprotected first for him, because even at 15 ppg, that 14 million dollar contract for the next 2 years is valuable

JC is the heart and soul of this team and it’s going to hurt like hell seeing him leave.
That being said though, yeah, I think it’s time to move on.

Boston potentially? I think Denver is satisfied with their line up and the bucks and Phoenix already have shooting covered. Maybe Minnesota but I feel like Minnesota is happy with what they have so far.
Hmmm interested to see where he ends up

A lot of people are low on Clarkson, but I really think that wherever he goes that team is going to do great things with him supporting the stars from the back. His stats aren’t as good this year but he’s a guy that loves taking the “bad shots” that stars hate to take, and you’ll even get situations like the 2022 playoffs where he balls out and last season where he performs well with a good team around him.

I love this to happen, hope they can trade Clarkson soon to a contender becz he deserves to play with his comfortable role which a quick spark off the bench. His attitude and passion to win the game really fits to a contender team, every coach will love to have him to their team becz hes a cool guy who always do everything whatever the coach asked him todo. It make sense they shut him down for the entire month to reduce the impact of his going low trade value, if the trading happened somewhere last month where he avg 21ppg 4reb 5ast in 4games straight his trade value could have been much better

Makes sense. If we can get a young player with potential or a protected 1st I’d be happy. I’d even be ok with a couple of 2nds and expiring salary.
Love JC and always will, but going back to be a 6th man on a contender will be better for him at this point I think.

I’d be so torn to see him go. Sometimes I don’t like the way he plays but I love everything else about him and he seems to be a great locker room presence and teammate. And he likes Utah. I just hope if he goes somewhere it’s to a good team.

JC is 31. This man should be on a contender playing his 6th man role which he owns. I’m guessing that was the agreement between him and the Jazz when he signed that contract this summer too.
Fwiw Haynes has been a mouthpiece for Klutch so the chances of this happening seem very likely by the trade deadline.

My heart is ready. His timeline doesn’t fit the Jazz right now and I think he deserves a contending team.

Would this be to basically open up more playing time for keynote?
