First off I want to say I love Mitchell, he’s been awesome for our franchise and I hope he stays. If he expresses that he won’t resign you gotta trade him but I don’t think we’re there yet.
Bill Simmons and Ryen Russillo did a whole segment on Mitchell trades. Not all draft picks are created equal but let’s assume they are and we get 2-3 firsts in all of the deals. Here they are:
1. Knicks: RJ Barrett and Fournier (Quickley and Grimes weren’t mentioned once as trade pieces🤔)
2. Heat: Herro, Jovic (who’s lighting up the g league!) no Jaquez bc he’s untouchable according to bill
3. Pelicans: Dyson Daniels and CJ McCollum. Bill even said he likes our team better with them over Mitchell 😂
4. Nets: Cam Johnson and Cam Thomas, which is probably the only one that’s somewhat reasonable
My personal least favorite is the Pelicans deal. CJ and Garland make no sense even tho I do like Daniels.

All joke trades
you get: a bunch of role players
we get: a top 15 player.
All these players don’t move the needle. Look at the nets and raptors for example they have a bunch of good/great role players
Without Mitchell we are back to the playin/lottery. Only reason our team isn’t a higher seed atm has been consistent and numerous injuries robbing the players of consistency.
I don’t think any team has what we would want for Mitchell on their own – unless we start talking about OG Anonoby, MAYBE.
My guess is that we would probably end up getting pieces from multiple teams to make it work.
I wish people would acknowledge the obvious: Mitchell was 100% worth the picks and assets (look at the hauls for DeJounte and PG13 if you want to see high and low market for a great SG)…he should have been first team All NBA but even an Allstar starter is worth a bunch of picks a starter, a prospect, and whatever Sexton is (overpaid mid imo)
PLUS Mitchell had the best year in his career with Cleveland by a wide margin: the roster worked well for him.
(if I was getting weird I’d see if PHX would do Beal and some other stuff like a pick or a few good one tool vets)
If Mitchell is going to Miami Jaquez absolutely has to be in the deal.
If you just look at the teams and assume the packages would be their best realistic offer (not the packages Bill proposed) then I would say the Heat is most attractive assuming you get picks, Herro, Jacquezc, and Jovic. That changes if Pels are willing to include BI but I don’t think they will be.
The Cavs are kind of screwed tho bc they will absolutely lose him for nothing eventually and he loses value every month he’s not traded.
Trash offers
yes, lets make our conference rivals better. Excellent plan
People killed me for my suggested trades lol. They beat the hell out of Bill’s. I feel like his packages weren’t even close to even within each other. I love how they’re saying those are the packages and we better trade him to get “top value.” Like the Knicks almost certainly would need a sign and trade to get it done unless they want to have like 5 players off of the current roster still there. Also like the lakers wouldn’t throw us a pick and a swap at the deadline next year with some of their roles players, if that was what it cost? The Cavs are barely getting mid season partial year left disgruntled, injury plagued aging star price in some of the suggestions. lol
So the Cavs give up Mitchell for peanuts do he can go to a big market like the media wants. Makes sense.
How I feel about all this Mitchell trade rumor BS. Plus, two’s a streak!

Id literally rather Spida walk and clear up cap space, than take any of these trades and have to pay the combination of guys the remainder of their contracts.
I dont spend any time thinking about that idiot.
These are the kinds of deals I would be expecting *next* season when teams are going all in and there’s a possibility he’s a half season rental or is about to get a massive raise. It’s also when the Cavs flirt with taking these deals.
The main pieces of all these trades are basically shittier versions of Mitchell. Mitchell is a perennial all NBA player and you wanna dangle RJ Barrett? Wow. Even with Quickley and Grimes I’m saying no. It would still be a small backcourt but now with a fraction of the offense!
Dyson Daniels is intriguing but he has no offense to speak of. Cam Thomas is the opposite. He’s a bucket but doesn’t do much else. Herro is… fine. But don’t act like Jovic does anything. The trade needs to include Jaquez or at the very least Caleb Martin. A Pelicans trade needs to include Tre Murphy since CJ is really just cap relief at this point.
