Jazz open to Lauri Markkanen trade, should the 76ers inquire?

I would love us to pursue Lauri but I feel like we’d be outbid by other teams

No, I used to be high on him at first due to his really good contract, but I now feel he’s gonna play a role similar to what he did in Cleveland and be relegated to spot up shooting

He can’t create for himself, doesn’t pass (only averages 1 assist a game) and isn’t a good defender at all. I feel like his actual ability is being glorified due to being on a tanking team like the Jazz lol

There is nothing we could offer to beat out 90 percent of the other teams that isnt joel or maxey. Its not happening unless he demands out and says i want to go to philly. We gotta move on.

Not for what they’re reportedly asking, rather have Kuzma and Jones

Hell yes he’s perfect fit next to Embiid and maxey. Imagine him in the Harris role firing 6-8 catch and shoot 3s. He’s not great defender but he adds a significant size factor

No. We have a better version of the same player in Tobias.

Tobias actually knows when to sacrifice and only take three shots and just let his gravity open things up for other players. They just need to make their shots like Tobias does when he explodes for fifteen points every other week.

Enough about Lauri. We are better off keeping our leader and then paying him 20-25 million per year through his mid thirties.

He’ll have as much success as Hunter Pence did for the Phillies 😂 pass

Ainge would screw us, we had to fight just to get Bball back from him

Ainge wants 5 FRPs, at that price pass and look elsewhere instead

Lauri would be great for us.

People have talked themselves out of Lauri saying:

    – he can’t play defense
    – he can’t pass
    – he’ll just become what he was in Cleveland

His defense is less than ideal, but he makes up for it with size. He’s a pretty good help defender and can block shots on the help.

His passing is what I’d be concerned about most admittedly, but he’s playing beside Maxey/Embiid. That’s not gonna be his role anyways. Batum passes really well to the post, I don’t see why Lauri being a score first player hinders our teams offensive rhythm.

Even if he became what he was in Cleveland, that’s still a valuable pickup. With that being said, he’d be getting passes he was not getting in Cleveland. He’s a proven shooter, now. He’s gonna get the shots he deserves.

Now, with all of that being said… the issue here is simply what we’d have to give to bring him in.

Other teams can offer an absurd amount of future assets without missing a beat (lookin at you, OKC) and I just don’t see a way to get there without breaking too many eggs in the process. Hopefully I’m wrong…

I want Lauri on this team. I think it would add another element for defenses to have to worry about. He’s got that respect in the league now.

Send tobi and anyone else we can to get rid of that bum

    Do I want him?

    Absolutely.

Do I want him for the price Ainge wants to sell him for?

    Nope.

They reportedly want 5 firsts. There’s a very small list of players worth 5 firsts and Lauri is like 5 tiers below them.

  14. kokukojuto33

we dont have the assets. OKC will get him if they want him

  15. There’s a strong part of me that wants to wait until next season and use these assets to go for Paul George in a trade. There’s no one available this season that I feel is a big needle mover that won’t come at a huge risk or cost. Lavine has a huge contract and injury issues, Lauri seems like a great choice but he only gets one assist a game and might not fit in defensively…but his contract situation is very tempting. And there are no free agents that are that good this off-season.

I’m scared of wasting all these new assets on someone that won’t get us past Boston or the Bucks and Into the Finals, much less win it all. But hey, life is a risk and you gotta go all in.

Edit : I forgot all about OG. He might be the best fit for the Sixers now that Nico and Cov can hold up the PF spot as well as they have. His length, defense and shooting could be the player that gives us the best shot at getting over the 2nd round hump and contend for a title.

Inquire, yes. But realistically Utah are going to want too much to make the move worth it. He’ll either stay with the Jazz or a team with a ton of assets like OKC will get him because they can afford to overpay.
