Obi is a big problem defensively. Gets bullied often by physical players in the post. Gets beat often by quicker players on the perimeter. He was great against Jimmy, but it helps that Jimmy is a more methodical attacker rather than a quick or purely physical one.
I think it’s pretty obvious that Nesmith should get the starting 3 spot, but knowing Rick, he’ll probably give him the starting 4 and lose any advantage he might provide because he’ll be severely undersized yet again. Rick can’t help himself with the undersized lineups because, you know, shooting trumps all.
Do the brave thing, Rick. Bench one of Buddy or BB in favor of Nesmith. At the 4, you can keep Obi for now, but he’s on the shortest of leashes. Be ready to supplant him with Jarace or a double big.

My biggest gripe is we are so bad defensively and he keeps trotting out the same lineups.

Yeah Obi Toppin is absolutely atrocious on defense. Start Nesmith, put Jarace as the backup. Figure out rotations from there.
His defense isn’t great and he’ll never be a stopper but he hasn’t been terrible from what I’ve seen. We need to start the conversation with the center imo.

Nesmith needs to start over Buddy. Mathurin is likely better being ball dominant off the bench with Nembhard and Buddy spacing at this point.
I do think Tyrese needs to get better playing with Ben though. Ben is the only guy with that skill set on the team right now.
